Both teams to score and win betting tips for this week’s Boxing Day fixtures in the Football League including two 3pm kick-offs and the late Premier League game.
This Boxing Day’s score and win bet features a trio of games from across England and gets underway at 15:00. The straight accumulator comes in at a tidy price of 33/1 with 888Sport, but as ever, it is always worth backing the doubles as well.
Our opening selection for the Boxing Day tip comes to us from the John Smith’s Stadium as Huddersfield take on Nottingham Forest at 15:00. The hosts were the early pacesetters in the Championship this season but did run into some poor form between September and November which certainly stopped them in their tracks. However, Huddersfield have now won their last three matches in a row to propel themselves to fourth place in the table and have also recorded six BTTS results from their last seven games as well. Opponents, Forest were a total shambles at home to Wolves last week and their brief spell of decent form around late November has now been firmly curtailed. Nevertheless, the visitors are generally a reliable outfit in the BTTS market and boast the highest strike-rate in the whole of the Championship for both teams finding the net at 73%. It’s certainly the toughest one on paper this weekend but a positive result should put us in an excellent position with two ‘easier’ fixtures alongside it.
The second choice takes us to League One as Sheffield United welcome Oldham to Bramall Lane. The Blades have been in superb form for most of the season now and currently sit just three points behind leaders Scunthorpe at the top of the table. United have been generally terrific on home soil over the last few months, with just the anomaly of a 1-0 defeat to Walsall sandwiched between eight straight wins. Their opponents this Boxing Day comes in the form of bottom of the table Oldham and the visitors have really struggled to get anything going this season. Although their goalscoring record is nothing short of appalling this year – just 12 goals from 21 games – Oldham have actually recorded two back to back BTTS draws on the road and they might just be able to pose enough of a threat against their hosts to find a way onto the scoresheet. Sheffield United have already registered an impressive seven BTTS wins already this campaign, therefore, back this fixture to be their eighth.
Our final choice features the live Premier League match at 17:30 as Hull take on Manchester City at the KC. After an encouraging start to the season, The Tigers have now folded like a deck of cards and currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table at Christmas. Mike Phelan’s side are now without a win in their last six matches and have also conceded an eye-watering 36 goals already this campaign, which certainly doesn’t bode well ahead of a clash against a Manchester City side that has registered the same amount of goals at the other end of the pitch. Pep Guardiola’s men head into the clash off the back of a terrific comeback against Arsenal last weekend, and despite being slightly off the boil in recent weeks, still remain within touching distance of Chelsea at the top of the table. My main incentive for this fixture’s inclusion, though, has been the fact that City have actually recorded eight BTTS wins from their eleven victories so far this season and also boast the joint highest strike-rate in the Premier League for both teams finding the net at 76%. With all these facts in mind, stick this one down as the anchor leg.
