Domestically Valencia have only lost one of their last five games winning four and the loss came to a dominate Real Madrid side who are taking no Prisoners in their pursuit of La Liga. Chelsea are having an inconsistent time themselves losing two of their last five Premier League games and suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in the Carling Cup. A 3-0 win away from home against Newcastle at the weekend would have done their confidence a world of good, and I for one expect them to push on from here.

Chelsea are carrying no fresh injury concerns heading into this showdown, with exception of Michael Essien who is a long term casualty. The difference in this game could well be Mata and Sturridge who both showed fine displays in Saturday's victory at Newcastle and I see these as the key to unlocking the Valencia defence.

My personal thoughts to this match is that Chelsea will see this as the perfect opportunity to kick start their season as AVB will need to qualify for the knock out stages to relive some of the mounting pressure. However after watching Chelsea numerous times this season it will not be the walk in the park they are hoping for and I can see Valencia going out on the attack creating an open game. With Chelsea’s current defensive wows I can see Valencia scoring at least one.
