Brighton appear set to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League after earning their fourth successive victory during April when winning 2-0 at Wolves on Friday, and they have lost just one game at the Amex Stadium this year when Newcastle won 2-1 at the venue. In contrast, Wigan are struggling to retain their Championship status despite winning 3-2 in their last two games at the DW Stadium. The Latics have also lost four of their last five away contests, and are facing another defeat on their travels.
Brighton to beat Wigan.
Although Preston have lost two successive away matches, they were the victims of a controversially awarded very late penalty at Huddersfield on Friday from which the hosts eventually scored to clinch a 3-2 victory. The Lilywhites now return to Deepdale where they are unbeaten in league action this year and where they have earned sixteen points from their last six matches. Preston will host a Norwich team struggling for form on their travels soil with seven Championship away defeats suffered since the beginning of December. Although the Canaries recently beat Reading 7-1, they were beaten 3-1 by 10-men Fulham on Friday, and another Norwich loss appears likely.
Preston to beat Norwich.
The relegation of Coventry was confirmed on Friday when they drew 1-1 with Charlton on home turf, and they have claimed just two League One points on the road during 2017. A visit to Rochdale now awaits with the hosts unbeaten in seven league matches at Spotland, and they have netted three or more goals in five home games since mid-February. It is unlikely that the Dale will secure a top six finish in the league table, but they are expected to win this contest.
Rochdale to beat Coventry.
Crawley have won just once in ten League Two outings when beating crisis team Leyton Orient 3-0 on home soil and they have netted just once in three matches during April. Hosts Accrington Stanley are one of the in-form teams in the division as they are unbeaten in fourteen matches and they have claimed thirteen points from their last five home matches. Both Plymouth and Doncaster have failed to beat Stanley in recent weeks and with slim hopes of a promotion playoff position still remaining, a third successive home victory is likely.
Accrington Stanley to beat Crawley.
After suffering three successive National League defeats and conceding seven goals, the promotion playoff ambitions of Gateshead have virtually ended, and they are now winless in five matches. The Heed now host a Lincoln team striving to win the league title and having registered five consecutive victories with just one goal conceded. With just one league defeat sustained since the beginning of February when losing 2-0 at Boreham Wood, the Imps are expected to win this game in their quest to seal automatic promotion.
Lincoln to beat Gateshead.
