The opening fixtures of the new Serie A and La Liga campaigns are staged this weekend with three fixtures selected from those leagues for the Sunday accumulator tip. Two matches from French Ligue 1 are also included with overall odds set to be about 14/1 should all tips succeed.
Caen have suffered two Ligue 1 defeats this term by the only goal scored at Montpellier and more lately at home to St Etienne, while they claimed victory in just one of their league games from the beginning of March onwards last term. Hosts Lille began the season by beating Nantes 3-0 on home soil, and should have led at Strasbourg last weekend but for a poor miss in front of goal by the normally reliable Nicolas De Preville. Then ‘keeper Mike Maignan was dismissed during the second half with the scoreline level at 0-0 and all substitutes used. A subsequent 3-0 away loss followed for Lille, but they are tipped to recover from that setback and beat a struggling Caen team.
Lille to beat Caen.
Angers have experienced a decent start to the campaign by claiming a 2-2 draw against Bordeaux in their opening Ligue 1 fixture and then earning a comfortable 2-0 at newly promoted Amiens with the useful and recently signed striker Enzo Crivelli netting on his debut for the club. The Western France team now visit Marseille with the hosts drawing 1-1 at Domzale in midweek Europa League action, but they have won both Ligue 1 games this term without conceding a goal. A 1-0 win at Nantes last weekend would have been more emphatic but for the heroics of home goalkeeper Anton Tatarusanu, and another victory for Marseille is forecasted for our accumulator bet.
Marseille to beat Angers.
When Getafe last featured in La Liga action, they lost their first three games of their 2015-16 campaign including a 3-1 loss at Athletic Bilbao. Their promotion from the Segunda Division last term was sealed via a playoff final victory against Tenerife, but they lost both pre-season games on away soil. Hosts Bilbao have already featured in three UEFA Europa League games including a Thursday evening 3-2 win at Panathinaikos after trailing 2-0, while they were beaten only by Barcelona and Real Madrid in league action at San Mames last season. Despite playing in midweek, Bilbao are predicted to seal an opening La Liga victory.
Athletic Bilbao to beat Getafe.
Much will be expected of leading striker Fabio Ceravolo as Benevento prepare for their first ever Serie A game as he claimed 21 second tier goals last term. Yet Benevento were beaten 4-0 on home soil by Perugia in Coppa Italia action last weekend, after beating them in the promotion playoffs last season. That defeat may dent their confidence for the Italian top-flight as they visit Sampdoria this weekend, with the hosts comfortably denying Serie B outfit Foggia 3-0 in the same cup competition. Although Sampdoria failed to win any of the last eight league games last term including a 7-3 loss at Lazio, they are predicted to win this match for our weekend accumulator tips.
Sampdoria to beat Benevento.
Torino were unbeaten in six pre-season friendly games and then completed an emphatic 7-1 home win against Italian third-tier team Trapani in a Coppa Italia cup clash last weekend. Andrea Belotti netted twice in that game after scoring 26 league goals last term, and his team now visits Bologna with the hosts embarrassingly beaten 3-0 by Serie B team Cittadella in their previous game, although forward Simone Verdi was dismissed after just five minutes. Bologna also lost 3-0 at Hoffenheim in a friendly during the previous weekend and lost six league games on home turf from February onwards last term. Another home loss is likely.
Torino to beat Bologna.
