Champions League winners Chelsea take on Europa league winners Atletico Madrid for the UEFA Super Cup in Monaco on Friday night.

Chelsea have started well in the Premier League under Roberto Di Matteo’s guidance and will be looking to lift the Super Cup in order to keep the momentum going, however this isn’t a trophy that will be on either managers ‘must win’ list, and I very much doubt we will see any of the deep lying bodies on the line defending that Chelsea employed in order to emerge victorious in last year’s Champions League. On the contrary I am expecting quite an open game with plenty of goals (hopefully!).

In their last two competitive games Chelsea and Madrid have scored 11 goals between them (Chelsea scoring six and Madrid five). Both sides seem to be firing on all cylinders with Atletico Madrid’s much coveted striker Falcao bagging a hat-trick in his last game and Chelsea’s new ‘wonderkid’ Eden Hazard (9/1 to score first) has had no trouble adapting to the pace of the Premier League, chipping in with four assists and a goal in his three league games so far. Even the ever inconsistent Fernando Torres has started the season with three goals already; he is priced at 6/1 with Coral to open the scoring against his former side.

The result of the match is a tough one to call and could simply boil down to who wants it more, for that reason I am staying away from any score predictions and sticking with goals, which there should be plenty of.
