Middlesbrough v Ipswich Betting Tips and Predictions

Free football betting tips and predictions for Middlesbrough v Ipswich in the Championship this weekend.

Both these sides are at the right end of the Championship table, but have been stuttering of late. None of the top 8 have been in blistering form recently and whilst Ipswich are still in contention, they have dropped to 8th and automatic promotion looks unlikely. A place off place will be considered a huge success for Mick McCarthy’s side with their budget and the affable Yorkshireman is the perfect man to guide them there.

Middlesbrough on the other hand have gambled and so far, it appears to have paid off. Aitor Karanka was drafted in and following a jerky start to life on Teesside, he has adapted well and his club currently sit in 3rd position. He has been allowed to bring in quality such as Lee Tomlin, Adam Forshaw and loaned Patrick Bamford from Chelsea and the previously dwindling crowds have started returning to the Riverside.

Ipswich have been somewhat of a bogey team for ‘Boro of late and ended their good run of form with a 2-0 victory at Portman Road in which the away side didn’t perform anywhere near their best. But despite a defeat to in-form Forest, I think Middlesbrough can continue The Tractor Boys’ blip.

It’s skinny odds on Middlesbrough, but I think they need to be backed at 17/20 with William Hill as Ipswich just can’t seem to put any run of form together despite the goalscoring exploits of Daryl Murphy.

For our first Middlesbrough v Ipswich prediction we’re betting on a Middlesbrough win at 17/20 with William Hill.

This game will probably be quite cagey, I’ve watched a lot of Middlesbrough this season and they have a decent defence. They shipped a couple of goals against Forest and fell to a fluke goal against Leeds, but they have been relatively solid. Dimi Konstanopolous is back in goal and Daniel Ayala is closing in on a return and they look confident and assured at the back. Ipswich don’t have David McGoldrick, but they do have the aforementioned Murphy and Freddy Sears who adds a bit of pace to the frontline and it could catch the home side out.

Neither side will want to lose valuable ground on the remainder of the top sides and it could be edgy and tense and therefore fall under 2.5 goals.

Bet on under 2.5 goals in Middlesbrough v Ipswich at 3/4 with Ladbrokes.

I rarely go for a correct score tip, but I am backing Middlesbrough to avenge the 2-0 defeat inflicted on them by the Suffolk side earlier in the season. I think Karanka will be disappointed by his sides recent dip in form and will have his side organised from the off. Middlesbrough have a decent home record and I back them to win 2-0 here.

Middlesbrough to win 2-0 is our correct score betting tip and the odds are 8/1 with Paddy Power.
