Brighton have been partying all week after securing promotion – can they shake off the hangover in East Anglia?
Norwich vs Brighton Preview
Brighton gained promotion on Monday as news filtered through of Derby’s equaliser the players started to celebrate! They’ve been celebrating for 2 days straight and having a Friday night fixture is hardly ideal. Chris Hughton’s side deserve to let their hair down after a sensational season in which they’ve been consistent and defensively sound. They’ve found their 20 goal-a-season man in the shape of Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert has been a magician on the wing deservedly being crowned Championship Player of the Year.
Although the Premier League beckons for the Seagulls their work isn’t done yet as they aim to wrap up the league title ahead of Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle. The Magpies are floundering but Brighton will need three more points to secure top spot. Brighton will hope to have the title sewn up by this weekend but do have games against Bristol City and Aston Villa to come.
I saw someone describe Norwich as ‘a bit bi-polar’ this season and I’m inclined to agree. It’s not been the best season for the Canaries although there have been some highs coupled with a number of lows. A summer clear-out is almost inevitable but they’ll need a permanent manager first. Fans have been pushing for a number of the younger squad members to be given a go and the Murphy brothers and James Maddison have clocked up minutes on the pitch lately suggested a bright future for the club. Their Under 23 side looked decent in the EFL Trophy and many of the 30-somethings could be heading for the Carrow Road exit this summer.
Brighton must be wary because Norwich can be devastating on their day. Unfortunately for the fans that ‘day’ comes around far too infrequently. Their 7-1 thrashing of Reading here seems like a distant memory already.
Norwich vs Brighton Predictions
Let’s opt for goals first in this one. Brighton still have injuries at the back and with their players celebrating this week they could take their eye off the ball. Norwich do have goals in the side and have hit 8 in their last 2 home matches and 11 in their last 3 Championship encounters. My first Norwich vs Brighton prediction is BTTS and over 2.5 goals, the best odds are 19/20 with Coral.

Either of the Murphy brothers could be worth backing here on the anytime goalscorer market but Josh Murphy started against Preston and scored. He could be given the nod again here and completes our Norwich vs Brighton predictions with an anytime goalscorer. The odds are 9/2 with William Hill.
Norwich vs Brighton Team News
Louis Thompson is still recovering from a thigh injury and will miss out here. Matt Jarvis and Tim Klose are also unlikely to be risked. James Maddison and Jacob Murphy will be pushing for a start.
Shane Duffy is the main absentee for the visitors and neither he nor Connor Goldson is likely to feature again this season. Sam Baldock is slowly making a return to full fitness. Tomer Hemed could be given a rare start.
Norwich vs Brighton Head to Head
Brighton won 5-0 at the AMEX when the two teams met in October. Norwich will be seeking revenge here. Brighton haven’t won at this stadium since 2002.
Norwich vs Brighton Betting Odds
It’s been rare to see Brighton as big as 2/1 this season but bookies obviously believe the partying will take its toll! Norwich can be backed at around 11/8. Cameron Jerome just sneaks ahead of Glenn Murray (who doesn’t score many away goals) in the first goalscorer market.
