Who will be getting relegated from the Premier League this season? This article will give the reasons why I think certain teams will go down and the best odds available. Our football tipster has picked two Premier League 2017/18 relegation predictions including an 18/1 shot.
Premier League 2017/18 Relegation Predictions
To be relegated odds – 4/6 at Bet365.
Huddersfield Town are the bookies favourites to be relegated this season and I agree with the bookies on this one. It’s a fantastic story that they are in the Premier League for the first time but I do worry that they don’t have enough quality to stay in the top flight. Before last season they finished 17th, 16th and 19th in the Championship which shows what a remarkable achievement it is for them to be in the top tier of English football. They have broken their transfer record three times this window already however in my opinion they haven’t added any Premier League quality to their squad. Tom Ince and Aaron Mooy have arrived in midfield and Steve Mounie has arrived up front but none of these players are experienced in the top flight and I think it will be a struggle for the Terriers this season.
Brighton and Hove Albion
To be relegated odds – 6/5 at Ladbrokes.
Brighton and Hove Albion finally got promoted last season after several years of knocking on the door and they will be confident of staying in the division this season. They have signed Australian international Matthew Ryan in a club record deal but I feel as if they will need more than that if they are going to stay up. They lack a proven Premier League goal-scorer and you need someone who will score 10-15 league goals a season if you are going to survive in the top flight. Glenn Murray and Tomer Hemed are very good Championship strikers but I think they will find it tough this season. Chris Hughton is a good, honest manager but I don’t think that will be enough and I can see them getting relegated.
To be relegated odds – 13/10 at Paddy Power.
The third of my Premier League 2017/18 relegation predictions may surprise a few people but I believe that Burnley will struggle this season. Sean Dyche’s men had a fantastic season last year and were never really in a relegation dogfight and this was mainly due to their excellent home form. They collected over 80% of their points at Turf Moor last year but I don’t expect them to repeat that this season. Influential centre-back Michael Keane has departed for Everton and they haven’t replaced him as of yet and have signed Jack Cork and Jonathan Walters who aren’t exactly the most exciting of signings. I think Turf Moor will still be a tough place to visit but I think Burnley could suffer from ‘second season syndrome’ and drop back into the Championship.
Other Premier League Relegation Contenders
Bournemouth have signed Asmir Begovic, Nathan Ake and Jermain Defoe and these signings along with what Eddie Howe has got already will be enough for the Cherries to stay up. Newcastle United bounced back with Rafa Benitez at the helm last year and they have enough quality in their squad to survive in the Premier League even if their manager is getting increasingly frustrated with their lack of activity in this transfer window. Swansea City will hope to have more stability under Paul Clement this season after having three managers last year and the loan signing of Tammy Abraham will ensure they have enough goals to stay in the division. Watford seem to change their managers every season and still survive comfortably and new manager Marco Silva is a good appointment and even if Troy Deeney does leave the club as expected then I still think they’ll finish above the relegation zone but only just.
