Premier League Top 4 Predictions and Betting Tips for the 2017/18 Season

Premier League top 4 predictions for the new 2017/18 season and the best football betting tips for betting on who will finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

The transfer window has been officially open for a couple of weeks now and six of last year’s top seven have already spent big with Tottenham Hotspur being the only exception. Here’s my Premier League top 4 predictions with the reasons why and the best odds available.

Premier League Top 4 Predictions

Manchester City

To finish top four – 1/5 with Bet365.

To win the league – 2/1 with Unibet.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are favourites to win the 2017-18 Premier League season and they are the first of my Premier League top 4 predictions. I still have my doubts over City defensively with a lack of full-backs at the club at the moment (although I expect this to change before their opener with Brighton) but they have bought goalkeeper Ederson who has to be an improvement on Claudio Bravo. The attacking options that Manchester City have are incredible with new signing Bernardo Silva joining Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne in attack and this is why I think they will finish in the top four comfortably and mount a serious title challenge this season.

Manchester United

To finish top four – 4/11 with Betfred.

To win the league – 7/2 with Betfair.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping to improve on last season’s sixth place finish and their transfer business so far shows that they mean business. They have bought in Victor Lindelof to bolster their defence and beat rivals Chelsea to the signing of Romelu Lukaku for £75 million. The latter has proven experience in the Premier League and in my eyes, will be able to step up to the plate as Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been released from the club. It also looks as if David De Gea will be staying at the club for at least another season which is great for United as he is arguably the best keeper in the world. Europa League commitments and failure to break down the so called lesser teams was why United missed out on the top four last seasons but I expect a title challenge and a place in the top four this season.

Tottenham Hotspur

To finish top four- 5/6 with Paddy Power.

To win the league – 10/1 with Betway.

Tottenham are yet to splash the cash in this year’s transfer window and this will be a worry for Spurs fans as all the other clubs around them are doing exactly that. They need to improve their squad if they are going to challenge in Europe as well as in the league with last season’s summer signings not living up to expectations. They will also be playing all of their home games at Wembley this season and I can see this hindering their title prospects but with Harry Kane and Dele Alli in their team I expect them to have enough to secure Champions League football for the following season.

Arsenal

To finish top four – Evens with Bet365.

To win the league – 12/1 with Betfair.

Arsenal finished outside the top four for the first time in over 20 years last season and many people thought that this would be the end for Arsene Wenger (me included) but he has signed a two year deal at the club and wants them back challenging for titles. They have signed striker Alexandre Lacazette for a club record fee and I think they have needed a player like him for years. He is a top-quality striker who will score 20+ goals next season and if Arsenal can keep hold of star man Alexis Sanchez then the strike-force begins to look formidable. I still think that they are weak mentally and this will stop them from challenging for the title but I can see Arsenal reclaiming their favourite 4th position next season which completes my Premier League top 4 predictions for the 2017/18 season.

Other Top 4 Contenders

The big omission from my top four is reigning Champions Chelsea and I think next season could be a difficult one at Stamford Bridge. Diego Costa looks set to leave and Antonio Conte is said to be fuming that they missed out on Romelu Lukaku. This means that they will have to look elsewhere and with pre-season already began it will be a race against time for the new striker to be settled in with his team-mates for the start of the Premier League. They will also be playing Champions League football next season which they didn’t have last year and I expect this to impact their league form. Antonio Conte may prove me wrong like he did last season but my best Premier League betting tip for this upcoming season is Chelsea to finish outside the top four and this is 5/2 with William Hill.

Everton have made some very good signings and will definitely improve but I feel as if they will miss Romelu Lukaku’s goals and their Europa League campaign may affect them finishing in the Premier League top four but I wouldn’t be surprised if Everton finish above arch-rivals Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s side have made an exciting signing in Mohamed Salah but it’s obvious that their weakness is in defence and they haven’t improved that yet so unless there is a new goalkeeper and three new defenders before September then I can’t see them finishing in the top four.
