Tottenham vs Chelsea betting tips and predictions for the Premier League fixture on Wednesday 4th January with an anytime goalscorer double and the best odds for each bet picked.
Tottenham will be hosting Chelsea on Wednesday night and this will be the last Premier League match for around 10 days as the FA Cup takes centre stage at the weekend. Here are some tips and predictions for the game live on Sky Sports.
Tottenham have had a fantastic Christmas period and have won four on the bounce in the league and this has put them in the Champions League places going into the New Year. They have won their last two matches 4-1 and both of these have been away from home at potentially tricky grounds and they looked particularly impressive when they demolished Watford on Sunday. Dele Alli and Harry Kane both grabbed a brace in that game and they are both looking like the players who put them well in the title race last season after slow starts to this season and we all know that Tottenham talisman Harry Kane loves scoring in London derbies and it wouldn’t surprise me if he got on the scoresheet on Wednesday.
Chelsea have won thirteen league games in a row and if they beat Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Wednesday then they will set a new Premier League record for the amount of games that they have won in a row. They suffered a couple of setbacks against Stoke on New Year’s Eve as they twice came from behind to level the match but the reaction from Chelsea was fantastic and they immediately regained the lead and went on to win the match comfortably. The two goals that they conceded will give Tottenham confidence that they can break this Chelsea back line down but with Diego Costa back from suspension I doubt that Chelsea will fire a blank on Wednesday.
My first Tottenham vs Chelsea betting tip is going to be for the match to end in a draw. I think both these teams are full of confidence and flying at the moment and neither will want to lose. Chelsea will probably take a point considering the gap that they have managed to create already and Tottenham would love to stop their rivals from breaking a Premier League record. The draw is best priced 12/5 at Bet365.
My second Tottenham vs Chelsea prediction is going to be for two players to score at any point in the match. As mentioned earlier, Harry Kane loves a goal in a London derby and I expect him to score again here. This is only 6/4 on its own so if you add in form Diego Costa it boosts the odds up to 9/2 and I think this is a cracking price for both players to score. You can find this at William Hill.
My third and final Tottenham vs Chelsea betting tip is going to be for a goal to be scored in both halves. Both sides are in very good goal scoring form and I do expect a lot of goals on Wednesday night. This would have come in four of the last five meetings between the sides and has happened in both sides’ last two league matches. Odds for this are very respectable at Coral and it is 5/6 for a goal to be scored in both halves.
Tottenham have only the one injury concern and that is Erik Lamela. He is currently out with a hip injury and is unlikely to return until the middle of January. Chelsea will be without Captain John Terry as he still recovers from an injury that has kept him out of the side for a number of weeks. Playmaker Oscar completed his big money move to China this week and obviously won’t play a part.
Matches between these two sides are often matches to remember and in 2015 Tottenham beat Chelsea 5-3 at White Hart Lane in a New Year’s cracker. Earlier this season, Chelsea beat their rivals 2-1 thanks to goals from Pedro and Victor Moses but Tottenham will be buoyed by the fact they dominated their opponents in the first half of that match.
The bookies are finding it hard to split these two sides and both are 9/5 for the win at Betfair. The draw is best priced 12/5 at Bet365 as mentioned in my betting tips. Harry Kane is a massive 5/1 to open the scoring with Skybet and in the correct score market 1-1 is the most popular prediction and this is 6/1 with William Hill but the 2-2 seems better value to me and this is 14/1 with the same firm.
