World Cup 2018 has proven a tournament to forget for both these respective outfits. Whilst Australia possess a minor glimmer of hope in booking their place among the latter rounds of the competition, their ability to up the ante against Peru remains somewhat hard to envisage given the lack of attacking pedigree within Bert van Marwijk’s first-team squad.
Peru’s World Cup performances have been far from effective however. Whilst the South Americans have displayed certain signs of encouragement among their opening Group C encounters, Peru’s impotence in front of goal has cost them immeasurably in Russia this summer. Despite their attacking potential in the final third of this pitch, Ricardo Gareca’s outfit have ultimately failed to deliver the goods thus far. See our Australia vs Peru predictions below.
Peru have so far failed to hit the lofty heights many World Cup betting tips were previously expecting. It takes a lot to make a name for yourself upon the grandest footballing stage of all, yet even though the South Americans have admittedly drifted off the international scene somewhat over the past few years, football fans from far and wide have been left bitterly disappointed by their overall failure to convert several chances in front of goal.
One man who could nonetheless draw some positives in and around the Peruvian set-up seemingly arrives in the form of Paolo Guerrero. Whilst he had been forced to prepare for World Cup 2018 with a troubling drugs related case hanging above his head this summer, we are now expecting the 34-year-old striker to represent a possible anytime scorer in line with our latest Australia vs Peru predictions at the World Cup.
Another man who has failed to hit the big time among Group C this summer would be Peru’s quick-footed play-maker, Christian Cueva. The current Sao Paulo midfielder may have lost a few admirers after his horrific penalty miss against the Danes in his opening Group C performance, but many World Cup onlookers still see great potential in the 26-year-old despite the obvious setback.
Cueva is a player who possesses the potential to make things happen inside the final third. His tricks and skills haven’t exactly come off for Peru in the most exhilarating of circumstances thus far it must be said, but even with such a notion held firmly in mind, the gifted midfield maestro could still hold the key for Peru in their final Group C face-off with Australia.
Yet despite all the in-tact positivity still surrounding Peru at World Cup 2018, Australia certainly don’t arrive without their own individual talents to look forward to. This isn’t the most technically gifted or specialised Australian outfit we have seen operating on the world stage it’s true, but in Mathew Leckie, the Socceroos clearly have someone worth talking about. We’re going for a 1-1 draw in today’s Australia vs Peru predictions.
The Australian frontman, who is often deployed out on the wing for both club and country on occasion, has the ability to set this final group-stage fixture alight with his direct style of play and dangerous shooting ability from just outside the box. The world may not yet know just what the current Hertha Berlin man is capable of, but perhaps they soon will after Leckie arrives on the scene in Sochi with the aim of proving his worth against Peru.
