We all know that Liverpool haven’t been up to their usual standard this season. On league standings, many will be backing Newcastle to do the business in this fixture. However, I don’t think the Magpies will reign victorious in this one. I think Jurgen Klopp will set up his side fairly defensively given Newcastle’s recent successes, and I expect it to pay off. Liverpool won their fixture last time out in the Merseyside derby against Everton, and something tells me it may be a turning point in their season. Newcastle have drawn five of their last six Premier League matches, and I don’t expect their form to change here against what is still a tough Liverpool side to face.  I think the Reds will pick up at least a point in this one.

With the home advantage of the fans behind them, Newcastle will start this one quickly and I think it’ll make for a very interesting encounter. I expect it to be fast paced with Liverpool sitting in slightly deeper than we have come to expect. Both teams have a fairly good goal scoring record, with Liverpool netting 36 Premier League goals this season and Newcastle bagging 35. Liverpool have conceded 28, while Newcastle have conceded the lowest amount in the league with just 13, which is very impressive. That said, they have conceded in each of their last three matches in all competitions. I think both teams to score is a fairly safe bet in this one.

 

Dan Burn to be booked

Nobody can say Dan Burn isn’t passionate. The centre half has excelled this season since joining his home town club Newcastle, and I think the passion has played into his game and will continue to do so. He will be in for a tough afternoon against a very skilful and quick Liverpool front line, and there’s a strong chance he will fly in to some challenges as the Reds are on the attack. He has picked up three yellow cards this season, averaging 0.89 fouls per game. I’m backing him to pick up a booking in this one and think it adds excellent value to this bet builder.
