Newcastle to win

Newcastle are having an outstanding season so far, currently sitting in third place in the Premier League, just four points behind second placed Manchester City. The Magpies have only lost one game this season, winning nine and drawing eight of their 18 league fixtures so far. They have conceded the fewest goals in the league this season with just 11, and I don’t expect them to concede a lot here and I think they’ll overcome League One Sheffield Wednesday fairly comfortably here.

Chris Wood to score

Chris Wood has started just four games in the Premier League this season, making 13 substitute appearances for Eddie Howe’s side. With this being an FA Cup fixture against a lower league opposition, I expect the ex-Bournemouth manager to rotate his starting 11 in this one and I think Chris Wood will start. He will get a good amount of chances in this one, and I expect him to take at least one of them. He has scored two Premier League goals this season, and another one in the EFL Cup against Tranmere Rovers – one of Newcastle’s other cup win in 90 minutes this season. I think taking him to score adds excellent value here and think there’s a great chance of him bagging a goal.

Over 5 Newcastle corners

Despite thinking Newcastle’s 11 will change somewhat from what we’re used to seeing in the Premier League this season, I think they’ll dominate this match and I think over five corners will be a formality for them in this one. They have had five or more corners in each of their last six matches in all competitions, most coming in the Premier League against far stronger opposition than they are facing here. Although Sheffield Wednesday are doing well in League One, I think Newcastle will have the majority of possession and create a lot of chances here so I expect this selection to land fairly easily.
