Liverpool to beat Ajax

Everybody knows Liverpool have had a tough start to their season, make no mistake. The Reds currently sit in seventh in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Arsenal and with just two wins from their opening six ties, boss Jurgen Klopp knows full well that their form is not good enough.

That was compounded with a 4-1 away defeat to Napoli last week, with defensive mistakes galore adding to the Reds’ troubles in Group A. But with an Anfield crowd to roar them on – where they only lost once last season – they should turn Ajax over to effectively kickstart their campaign.

Bayern Munich to beat Barcelona

The return of Robert Lewandowski to the AMEX Stadium will display a pretty good marker as to whether Bayern Munich have begun to rue selling the Pole to Barcelona.

With three draws from their previous three Bundesliga ties, the Bavarians sit third in the Bundesliga, albeit with an incredible goal difference. Lewandowski’s departure was offset by the signing of Sadio Mane, and although the Senegalese attacker hasn’t flopped as such, the goals of Lewandowski will be somewhat missed.

Yet the German giants have serious pedigree at home, and will be expected to rout over the Catalan club after demolishing Inter Milan 2-0 away from home last week.

Sheffield United to beat Swansea

A club in the ascendency vs a club in disarray. Sheffield United’s trip to south Wales could not come at a better time for Paul Heckingbottom.

The Swans’ win over QPR at home last weekend was their first in five attempts, dropping points against bottom-half sides such as Stoke, Middlesbrough and a sorry loss at home to Luton Town. Sheffield United, however, have not lost in their last five games and have conceded the second-least amount of goals in the division behind Preston.

And with the Blades beginning to fire under Heckingbottom, the question begs not to be how many can they score, but how many goals can they win by at the Liberty Stadium.

Peterborough to beat Fleetwood

‘Posh’ are a side that always impress on home soil. Having won all three of their fixtures at London Road this season, they welcome a Fleetwood side who have amazingly drawn all five of their last five league games.

Goals aren’t an issue for Grant McCann’s men with only Portsmouth scoring more. For Fleetwood, that is the problem. And against a side who only won twice at London Road in the last seven outings, misery is further expected for Scott Brown’s army.

Wrexham to beat Dagenham and Redbridge

Wrexham are the fashionable side of the Vanarama National League. Being taken over by film stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Welsh outfit sit just one point from the top of the league with only Chesterfield ahead of them.

Dagenham, meanwhile, are failing to put the ball in the net with ease – just eight goals from their opening seven fixtures – and travel to the Racecourse Ground hoping for a general miracle against Phil Parkinson’s men.
