Southampton to win the Championship (15/2 with BetUK)

Last season, Russell Martin was manager of Swansea who had an expected points total of 75 which would’ve placed them in 6th place. Instead, they finished 10th due to their poor defensive record, conceding 14 more goals than expected (the worst differential rate in the division). He has the standard of player at Southampton to play the football that he intends, and signing Ryan Manning who got 10 assists for Martin’s Swansea side last season, putting him in the Championship team of the season, only significantly strengthens the squad.

 

Trent Alexander-Arnold most assists in the Premier League (8/1 with BetUK)

Although the obvious pick in this market is Kevin De Bruyne, the attacking midfielder is missing important pre-season games due to a hamstring injury, which could significantly affect his assist output, especially at the start of the season. A player with a poor start to last season was Trent Alexander-Arnold, who didn’t record a single assist in his first 16 games of the season. In his final 21 games (he only played 37/38 in total), Trent recorded 9 assists, second only to Leandro Trossard who recorded 10 over the same period. In pre-season games recently played, Trent has been playing in a more advanced position, which would only benefit his assist output. If Trent can continue his form from the second half of the season, he’ll definitely have a chance of recording the most assists in the league.

Stockport County to win League 2 (13/2 with BetUK)

Last season Stockport were favourites to win the League 2 title, and based on their expected points of 96, they should’ve won it. They missed this target by 17 points, which was the second largest deficit of any side in the division. Instead, Stockport lost in the play-off final. They’ve strengthened their side early in the transfer window, signing Nick Powell from Stoke who is easily a level above League 2 (injuries have affected recent seasons), whilst also keeping key players that will enable them to keep progressing. If Nick Powell manages to stay fit, he’ll be a top player in the division and Stockport will challenge for the title.
