Championship Betting Tips

Sheffield Wednesday vs QPR Betting Tip – Sheffield Wednesday Win

This is the archetypal end-of-season game between two sides who have very little to play for. However Sheffield Wednesday are the first of our Championship betting tips, and they should be able to end on a high at Hillsborough.

Steve Bruce is still fairly new to the role, and he will demand maximum effort from his players in this game. Wednesday have been incredibly difficult to beat since the Geordie arrived in South Yorkshire, and their home form has been particularly eye-catching.

Villa are the only side to have beaten Sheffield Wednesday at home since November 24th, and the Owls faithful won’t be expected to see that side end at the hands of QPR.

John Eustace is in the caretaker role, and he harbours no desire to take the role permanantly. His side ensured their safety a couple of weeks back, and since then, they have lost three in a row. QPR have conceded five goals and scored just once in their last three games, and their miserable 2018-19 campaign looks set to continue here.

It’s going to be an important summer in West London, and there should be plenty of change at Loftus Road over the coming months.

The Rs haven’t won at this ground since 2009, and I think that barren run will continue on the final day of the season. There is plenty to be optimistic about from a Sheffield Wednesday perspective, and I think they can sign off with a victory on Sunday lunchtime.

Brentford vs Preston Betting Tip – Over 1.5 Brentford Goals

Our second choice is another dead rubber, and that’s always a danger for final day tipping, but the Bees are formidable at home.

The West Londoners haven’t played for two weeks having had their fixture with Bolton called off last weekend, and they will be raring to go here. Thomas Frank’s side have been excellent at Griffin Park, and they recently put the mockers on Leeds’ promotion bid. They’ve suffered just one defeat here since December 8th, and they should have too much for a Preston side, who have been on the beach for a while.

Preston did play their part in a thoroughly entertaining 3-3 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. With Callum Robinson back in the side, they always carry more a threat, and this should be an entertaining end-of-season encounter between the pair.

It ended 4-3 when they met here earlier in the season, and Brentford did beat Preston 5-0 here back in 2016.

Brentford have goals in their side, and Preston aren’t defending well at the moment. Over 2.5 Goals is very short, so it’s better to take Over 1.5 Brentford goals in this one. This bet would have landed in five of the last six home matches for the Bees, and at 4/5, it looks a decent addition to our EFL Betting Tips.

Wigan vs Millwall Betting Tip – Wigan Win

Millwall manager Neil Harris was absolutely scathing post-match following the Lions defeat to Bristol City on Tuesday night. The boys from Bermondsey surrended a 1-0 lead, and missed a penalty, and he suggested that many of his players will not be at the club next season.

That can’t be good for team morale, and there may one or two younger members of the squad thrown in here as Harris prepares for the 2019-2020 campaign.

Millwall have crept over the line this season, and they can go into the final day of the campaign with the knowledge that they’ll be playing Championship football come August.

Wigan are also safe, but they have secured their safety in style. Paul Cook’s men have hit form at just the right time, and are on a four-match unbeaten run coming into this encounter. The Latics are exceptionally effective at home, and promoted Sheffield United were the last side to beat them at the DW back on January 1st.

The hosts have lost just four times here this season, with three of those sides sitting comfortably inside the top six.

The last two meetings at this ground have ended all-square, but Wigan are playing with confidence, and Reece James may be tempted to do something special to commemorate his final game with the North West side.

Wigan to Win is the third of our Championship betting tips for Sunday.
