Tottenham Hotspur are arguably one major signing away from turning themselves into out-in-out favourites for the Premier League title. With the addition of a newfound superstar, someone possessing all the necessary skill and brilliance to charm the White Hart Lane faithful throughout the entire course of a season, Spurs really could be pushing on even further within the not too distant future.
One player who has reportedly come under Mauricio Pochettino usually well-stocked radar as of late, arrives in the form of out-of-favour Bayern Munich wide-man – Douglas Costa. Spurs are supposedly eyeing a £30 million move for the Brazilian winger who has so far failed to implement himself at the Allianz Arena.

If spurs can sign Douglas Costa and get rid of sissoko I will be happy

Via his distinctly direct style of play inside the final third, this is one player who could theoretically add a great deal to the top-flight of English football, not to mention his obvious potential to thrive down in North London. Although both Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with the South American attacker, Tottenham seemingly hold pole position for the winger’s signature right about now.
Douglas Costa is notoriously quick. He loves to attempt long range screamers from anywhere inside the opposition’s half, whilst also wowing his respective fans along the touchline with an entire range of exciting show-boating manoeuvres.
Alongside the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Harry Kane inside the final third for Tottenham, there is simply no telling just how much damage a player of Douglas Costa’s overall quality could inflict within Mauricio Pochettino’s chosen system.
Having said that, the Brazilian wide-man is still likely very highly rated among the upper hierarchy at the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich are clearly hoping to keep hold of Douglas Costa in the wake of both Franck Ribery’s and Arjen Robben’s ageing statuses within the top-flight of German football.
Costa would likely perform well among most top-flight sides looking to stake their claim upon the European stage, but as both Robben and Ribery remain relatively well prioritized within Carlo Ancelotti’s short-term plans at Bayern – it remains to be seen just what is to eventually come of Douglas Costa and his growing potential to thrive elsewhere.
Could Tottenham Hotspur therefore snatch the South American winger from Bayern’s clutches over the upcoming summer transfer window? Absolutely yes, but it’s probably going to take a great deal of money and persuasion to do so…
