Davy Klaassen: An expensive mistake from the Toffees?
The 2017/18 Premier League campaign has provided something of a mixed bag for Ronald Koeman’s Everton. Big things were predicted of the Toffees upon the final culmination of their bolshie summer spending, yet so far, the blue half of Merseyside have failed to live up to the initial hype and exceed expectation.
Davy Klaassen has arguably represented the most obvious disappointment among the club’s recent crop of summer signings. The former Ajax man arrived among the English top-flight amid great hope and anticipation, but despite all the early promise and wild speculation surrounding the Dutchman’s talents, he is somehow yet to showcase the fullest extent of his ability in front of the Goodison Park faithful.
Whats Klaassen done to warrant guaranteed games ? Nothing. Drop him to the u23s and give someone like evans who deserves a chance a go

Although the 2017/18 campaign remains well within its early stages right in the here and now, Klaassen seemingly has a great deal of work to carry out before he can be justifiably highlighted as a successful summer signing. So far, a positive reputation from the Dutch Eredivisie has ultimately achieved very little for the recently acquired Everton midfielder.
Whilst injury has indeed served to side-line the 24-year-old Netherlands international for a finite portion of the current season, many voices within the wider footballing community in this country have pointed to Klaassen’s clear lack of physical prowess as a key factor behind his current form.
The Dutchman may have enjoyed a relatively successful pre-season with his latest employers, where he looked able in possession and productive in attack, but the £24 million rated midfielder is already in danger of becoming a real flop among this year’s current Premier League standings unless a sharp upturn in fitness and strength is incorporated within his overall game.
Klaassen was always gonna take time, Eriksen took a year to adjust. Be patient lads and you might actually get a quality player

But it seems Everton fans are not running out of patience with their latest big name midfielder any time soon, and quite rightly too. On the contrary, many among the Goodison Park faithful still hold their newly acquired ball-player among the highest praises. It’s only a matter of time before Klaassen begins to shine in an Everton shirt as far as some fans are concerned.
Perhaps the midfielder’s form will soon serve to coincide with Everton’s proposed rise up the Premier League table. Some players simply require a little longer to adapt when it comes to wholeheartedly adjusting to everything the Premier League has to offer. The level of competition is arguably far higher than what Klaassen was usually accustomed to among the Dutch Eredivise, as too is the obvious physicality on offer in England and the quickened pace of the game.
Form is temporary and class is permanent after all. If the Dutchman can soon become accustomed to the obvious shift in culture experienced within the English game, then Everton will indeed have a real player on their hands. In the eyes of most Premier League onlookers, Davy Klaassen remains an intelligent ball-player with a keen eye to make something happen inside the final third – regardless of whether or not he has truly shown it yet.
People genuinely aren't happy unless they've got something to moan at. Klaassen will come good, give him time

As long as Klaassen is continuously supported by both his fans and manager throughout the coming season, the Dutchman’s potential remains boundless and exciting. He found himself in truly excellent condition just a short matter of months ago for Ajax, so there is no reason why he can’t soon begin to show some renewed form for the Toffees as well.
Although Everton currently play host to several young attacking stars who remain ready and willing to break into Ronald Koeman’s first-team plans at the first time of asking, Davy Klaassen is one player who no Toffees supporter should be looking to cast aside just yet…
