Fantasy Football Tips: Four stars you should be looking to sign on Gameweek 17

Premier League betting tips

With the Champions League drawing to an end until February, all eyes are back on the Premier League this weekend.

Ahead of Fantasy Football managers across the country frantically buying and selling before Gameweek 17, we have found a few options that could bolster your squad:

Chicharito – £6.4million

If there is one player who appears to be relishing Marko Arnautovic’s spell on the sidelines, that man would be Javier Hernandez.

With Manuel Pellegrini’s Austrian talisman likely to miss the busy Christmas schedule with a hamstring injury, the former Manchester United marksman is shining in the Hammers’ new look 4-4-2.

Starting in West Ham’s last three Premier League victories on the bounce and finding the net in last weekend’s 3-2 win over Crystal Palace, he has returned three goals, an assist and 24 points during that period.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip across London to Craven Cottage, the Mexican international should be feeling confident about extending on his recent tally.

With Fulham struggling to adjust to life under Claudio Ranieri and shipping four against Manchester United last time out, the Cottagers are now the only team across any of England’s footballing leagues that are yet to record a clean sheet this season.

Ahead of a Christmas fixture list that will see West Ham face Fulham, Watford, Southampton, Burnley and Brighton, Hernandez could be a smart long-term investment for all you Fantasy Football bosses.

David Luiz – £5.6million

After putting in a Man of the Match performance in last weekend’s dramatic 2-0 win over Manchester City, it is no surprise that David Luiz is being drafted into many a Fantasy Football team for Gameweek 17.

Scoring his first Premier League goal of the season in Saturday’s victory and also recording a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge, Luiz’s blossoming relationship with Antonio Rüdiger has helped Chelsea now hold the third best defensive record in the top-flight.

Already collecting 73 points this season, only Chelsea teammate Marcos Alonso has recorded more and the Brazilian international sits fifth for the most points collected by a defender this season.

With Luiz and Chelsea eyeing up a return to the Champions League, the 31-year-old also faces a very favorable run of games entering Christmas.

After facing a Brighton side who failed to find the net against Burnley last weekend, the Blues will square off against Leicester, Watford and Crystal Palace.

At just £5.6million and still valued below the likes of Chris Smalling, Luiz is certainly someone who should be topping your Fantasy Football wishlist.

Son Heung-min – £8.5million

With Tottenham securing their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Champions League, the atmosphere around Wembley is on the rise and Mauricio Pochettino will also be very impressed by the form of Son Heung-min.

Since suffering a slow start to the season after the World Cup, the 26-year-old returned to Spurs’ teamsheet in Gameweek 13 and has only gone from strength to strength.

Finding the net, picking up an assist and also leaving the King Power Stadium with the Man of the Match award last week, Son has produced three goals and two assists since being reinstalled to Tottenham’s side.

Picking up 35 Fantasy Football points over the past three weeks, no Spurs player has a better return, even Harry Kane who has recorded 25 in comparison. Son’s totals of 16 shots and nine shots on target are both more than any other player.

With Pochettino and Tottenham welcoming Burnley to Wembley on Saturday, the South Korean winger should be confident of extending his recent run of form.

Only Fulham hold a worse defensive than the Clarets and they have also managed to record just one clean sheet away from Turf Moor since a 0-0 draw with Southampton back in August.

Picking up 14 points in his last appearance and the third most purchased player ahead of Gameweek 17, Son could be the perfect replacement for anyone looking to remove the injured David Silva.

Roberto Pereyra – £6.2million

If Son is slightly out of your price range, then Watford’s Roberto Pereyra could certainly be a potential option.

While the Hornets suffered some last-gasp heartbreak in their 2-2 draw with Everton on Monday night, many at Vicarage Road will be excited to see that their 27-year-old winger appears to be refinding his form.

Going on a five-match draught after scoring five times in his opening 10 Premier League appearances, Pereyra picked up two assists against the Toffees earlier in the week and Watford’s comfortable run of fixtures has seen him once again becoming a man in demand.

Aside from a clash with Chelsea in a fortnight, Javi Garcia’s side plays no team inside the top half of the table and they will be looking to mount a push back up the table.

With Watford welcoming relegation contenders Cardiff to London this weekend, Pereyra’s form at Vicarage Road should be enticing many a Fantasy Football manager.

He has been particularly productive in home matches.

Four of his five goals have come at Vicarage Road and only five midfielders have attempted more shots in the box than his 14 at home.
