Fantasy Premier League Tips and Advice for Gameweek 8 – Pick your Starting 11

Fantasy Football tips

Gameweek 7 was a tough week for many as the top owned keeper, two of the top five defenders, three of the top five midfielders and the top three forwards failed to return points. Here is our look at gameweek 8’s prospects.

With Kevin De Bruyne an injury doubt for Manchester City and another good display from one of Pep Guardiola’s other wingers last weekend, it could pay to add Mahrez to your team for this Gameweek, and elsewhere a Chelsea player who has just been called up for the England squad is a good pick for a budget player in defence.

Goalkeepers and Defenders Tips

Nick Pope (4.6m) has secured both his clean sheets at Turf Moore this season. Burnley have only conceded to Liverpool at home and now face an Everton side who have struggled in front of goal. Averaging over 3 saves a game, Pope is a good bet for points this week.

Chelsea kept their first clean sheet of the season against Brighton last weekend. Fikayo Tomori (4.6m) has established himself in the Chelsea defence in recent weeks and has easily been The Blues’ best defensive performer. He’s shown his eye for goal and is a good cut-price option against Southampton this week.

Arsenal have been shambolic in defence of late. They have conceded an average of two goals a game over the last five games and now face one of the most prolific attacks in the league. Previously an option worth considering, Ainsley Maitland-Niles (5.1m) may have lost his place in the team and is one to avoid this week.

Midfielders Tips

Only four midfielders have outscored Riyad Mahrez (8.5m) over the first seven gameweeks. Taking a gamble on Pep Guardiola’s rotation roulette is always risky but it could pay off for those prepared to back the Algerian this week. He has started three of the last four and faces Wolves at home next.

Manchester United are having some serious problems this season. The Red Devils currently sit in tenth place and things aren’t looking up. With just nine goals in seven games, they have struggled in front of goal. Paul Pogba (8.4m) has no goals or assists since the opening match and is best avoided even with a fixture at Newcastle.

Forwards Tips

Callum Wilson (7.9m) has displayed remarkable consistency this season. The Bournemouth forward has scored or assisted in every gameweek so far, tallying five goals and three assists. Even so, the England international has seen his price drop from his initial 8.0m. With a leaky Arsenal defence up next he is worth investing in.

Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham (7.6m) was incredibly unfortunate not to score last weekend. The young English forward has seven goals this season and faces Southampton next. His upcoming fixtures look equally as profitable, with none of the top 6 until late November.

Jordan Ayew (5.1m) fooled some FPL managers into thinking he was a viable cheap striker with back-to-back goals in gameweeks 3 and 4. Since then Crystal Palace have scored just once and face the current top six in each of the next six…no thanks.
