Fantasy Premier League Tips and Advice for Gameweek 9

Fantasy Football tips

We’re back after another international break for gameweek 9 in FPL. Here are some players to look out for and some to avoid as we approach the quarter way stage of the FPL season.

It was a disappointing Gameweek 8 for most players with a lot of the big names failing to score points, so we’re hoping for better this time around as teams such as Chelsea, Leicester and Tottenham look to have the most favourable home fixtures.

Goalkeepers and Defenders FPL Tips

Serge Aurier (4.9m) returns to action after his gameweek 7 red card. The Ivorian right back had broken into the Spurs team, grabbing a pair of assists in gameweek 5 and having a goal narrowly ruled off for offside in gameweek 6. With Watford at home up next, this could be a profitable fixture for Aurier.

Leicester have displayed defensive solidity this season. They have one of the best defensive records in the league and face Burnley at home next. Caglar Soyuncu (4.7m) has established himself in the heart of The Foxes defence and is the cheapest available option.

Axel Tuanzebe (4.4m) has become a starter for Manchester United in light of their recent injury troubles. He may be cheap, but his place is far from assured. What’s more, United are in poor form and host unbeaten Liverpool next.

Midfielders FPL Tips

Chelsea appear to be finding their stride this season and face Newcastle up next. Callum Hudson-Odoi (5.9m) has returned from injury and has already registered two league assists from one start and one sub appearance. At just 5.9m he is worth monitoring with Chelsea’s good run of fixtures.

Scotland’s hat-trick hero is back in action for Aston Villa this weekend. John McGinn (5.8m) has enjoyed a successful start to the season, netting three times and assisting once. The Villa midfielder faces a Brighton side with just one win in their last seven league games.

Wolves come into gameweek 9 off the back of a 2-0 win against Manchester City. Adama Traore (5.0m) scored both goals but he should be approached with caution. Traore has been deployed at right wing-back but is classified as a midfielder meaning he won’t get four clean sheet points. Both his goals came when he was moved up front for the final 15 minutes. This is unlikely to be a regular move.

Forwards FPL Tips

Teemu Pukki (7.1m) hasn’t enjoyed the best of form in recent weeks. The goals have dried up for him and Norwich since his blistering start. No goals or assist in the last three is worrying form for owners but with a leaky Bournemouth defence up next, he’s worth holding on to. He also got goals for Finland during the World Cup qualifiers so he is still finding the net.

Everton have made a horrendous start to the season. They are struggling to score, and their defensive resilience has deserted them. Moise Kean (6.6m) has been afforded just two starts and is yet to score. He is a promising prospect but best avoided for the meantime with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to keep his place in the starting line-up for their match with West Ham.
