Newcastle United Bloggers React to Rafa Benitez Leaving

Next Newcastle manager odds

The Newcastle United fans are in mourning today after the news that much loved manager Rafael Benitez will leave the club on 30th June – and we took a look at the Newcastle United bloggers to see how they have reacted to the news.

The announcement was made by the club on Monday lunchtime and there has been a lot of negative reaction towards the Newcastle board, particularly Mike Ashley. It is thought that he is the man to blame for Benitez refusing a reported £6m contract to stay at St James’ Park. The owner is trying to sell the club and has put hardly any funds into the transfer budget since Benitez took over the then Championship side, three years ago.

When the news broke, @NUFC_Online were one of the first to react, with a simple thank you to Rafa.

@NUFC_HQ were equally saddened by the news and have been very active on Twitter this afternoon.

There has been a lot of talk of Newcastle season ticket holders boycotting matches or even giving up their season tickets, but it is hard to see how this will have any effect unless a significant number of fans follow suit and leave St James’ Park practically empty.

It was quite a simple response from Newcastle United podcast @GallogateShots. They have echoed the thoughts of most people in football today, not just the Newcastle United fans.

It seems as though the potential takeover of Newcastlw United to BZG is looking less and less likely by the day, and @NUFCgallowgate claim that Mke Ashley is the man who is stalling on the deal because he has another offer to consider.

@NUFCTrust Twitter

The Newcastle supporters trust are pushing for the fans to take action and have said they are working on such an event. It is hard to see how they will have an influence on Ashley as nothing has worked so far.
