Premier League 2014/15 Manager of the Year Predictions
With the 2014/15 campaign once again hotting up with real style this time of year, the all-important manager of the year award has several worthy candidates ready to stake their claim for why their respective team has been the most impressive this season.
The same old faces are inevitably maintaining their strength at the top, last season’s promoted sides from the Championship are once again having to strive of the threat of impending relegation from the Premier League – but there are nevertheless some managers out there who have in-fact proved worthy of outstanding credit so far in the 2014/15 campaign.
Although a great deal of the campaign still remains to be decided, just which coaches have proved the most successful this term, and which man ultimately deserves to end 2014/15 with the illustrious manager of this season award?
First things first, despite Jose Mourinho’s (11/10 to be manager of the year) Chelsea currently looking by far the strongest outfit in England at the moment, the ever-enigmatic Portuguese boss simply doesn’t deserve to be credited above everyone else. Over-seeing a successful team in the Premier League is made a great deal easier with the amount of money Chelsea have splashed out in their recent financially backed history. Mourinho has certainly done well in big games this season, but because he has been able to fall back on so much cash throughout his Blues career, those who credit him as the supposed ‘special one’ don’t do so with a great deal of perspective.
If Chelsea manage to prove themselves by winning the Champions League this season however, then such statements may need to be reverted.
Having said that though, Southampton’s Ronald Koeman (9/4 to ne manager of the year) has simply achieved a great deal more with his respective side this season. The Saints also had a great deal to spend in in the run up to the 2014/15 season, but as such an outcome came off the back of their squad being mostly rinsed by Liverpool throughout the summer, the result of such spending was ultimately born more out of necessity than anything else.
Some even tipped Southampton for relegation after such a turnover in players before the season actually begun – so when you consider just how strong they have been throughout the course of this term – the newly appointed Ronald Koeman truly does deserve to be commended.
However, despite such managerial names seemingly thriving in the top half of the Premier League table at the moment, there is one man who has managed to greatly impress the English footballing community despite his side currently languishing inside the realms of the dreaded relegation zone.
Sean Dyche (10/1 to be manager of the year) and Burnley, in spite of their 19th placed position, will simply go down as this season’s best performers if they manage to stay in the Premier League. If the former Watford boss can avoid what some have deemed as a seemingly inevitable relegation in 2014/15 – then the Clarets really would have pulled off the impossible. Aside from maybe Danny Ings, they have no real stand-out quality in their side and simply don’t resemble much of a top-flight outfit in the slightest.
Burnley were therefore seen as the dead certs to finish bottom at the beginning of the season, yet with their plucky performances and resolute displays of team-work and determination, Sean Dyche’s never-say-die attitude might just pay off for his side come the end of term.
If such a seemingly unlikely goal can be achieved by the Clarets come the end of the season, then 2014/15 may have just found its hands-down manager of the season.
