It’s been another busy week of EFL action with another full fixture list taking place this weekend. We’re hoping for plenty of entertaining on Saturday afternoon and have picked out four matches which should feature three or more goals.
The shortest priced game on our Over 2.5 Goals accumulator comes from Kenilworth Road where two sides who simply cannot keep a clean sheet meet. Luton found themselves 3-0 behind last weekend before attempting to claw back the deficit. The Hatters were undone by Eberechi Eze, and they could have similar problems with Jarred Bowen and Kamil Grosicki this time around. Their three home games have contained twelve goals so far, and this could be another entertaining afternoon for the crowd. Hull have had a mixed start to life under Grant McCann. Their defence has looked shaky with Jordy de Wijs and summer signing Ryan Tafazolli failing to click so far. Hull have yet to keep a side off the score-sheet, but they’ve also only failed to hit the target on one occasion (and they missed a penalty in that game). This should be a cracker of a fixture, and don’t be surprised to see a lively first half.
Shrewsbury picked up an important victory in midweek, but Sam Rickett’s men did things the hard way. Despite going 2-0 up, they struggled to contain Southend, and only just scraped through with a 4-3 win. At home, they’ve actually been much better defensively, but on the road they’re games have been a little more open. The Shrews have kept three clean sheets so far this season although they’ve all come at the Montgomery Waters, and they’ve shipped seven goals on their travels. This won’t be easy against a Rotherham side who can take confidence from their second half display against Sunderland. Paul Warne’s side picked up a 1-1 draw in that game, and James Hastie was back on the score-sheet for the Millers. The hosts are yet to keep a clean sheet at home, but they also have plenty going forward. Each of the last two meetings between these sides have ended 2-1 and we could see a similar outcome once more.
At the beginning of the campaign, it would have been insane to include Cambridge in an Over 2.5 Goals accumulator. The U’s have turned a corner however and Colin Calderwood’s side have now scored seven times in their last two matches. Sam Smith has found his shooting boots, and the likes of Reggie Lambe and Paul Lewis have also been back amongst the goals. Admittedly, Swindon aren’t likely to be as defensively generous as Mansfield were in midweek, but they should still get on the score-sheet. Five of their last seven games have featured three or more goals, and because of their reputation earlier in the campaign, you can still get decent prices on goals in their games. It’s back to the drawing board for Swindon after a midweek defeat to Colchester with Richie Wellen’s side well-beaten at the County Ground. Each of the Robins’ last five League Two games have landed Over 2.5 Goals and with Eoin Doyle and Jerry Yates in the side, there’s always a chance of goals.
After a slow start to the season, Northampton are finally starting to climb the table. Keith Curle’s men have won back-to-back games in League Two and they will fancy their chances against Crawley. They’ve only failed to score once since the opening day of the season, and they should be able to get onto the score-sheet this afternoon. Crawley picked up a point against Plymouth in midweek, but looked suceptible at the back, and conceded twice to Joe Edwards. They are yet to register a clean sheet on the road, and have conceded at least two goals in three of their four away trips. The Cobblers should win this, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the visitors find a way the Northampton back-line in this contest.
