Saturday’s Football League Treble – Three Selections to win £209 From a £10 Bet

Bolton betting tips

After another week of form and knowledge in the book, there’s lots to dissect from the last 7 days (including 1st round of the Carabao Cup).

With midweek games and the rising temperatures (hitting us on Saturday afternoon) being factored in to my thoughts, I’ve picked out my 3 best bets of the weekend from the Football League matches, starting with Bolton’s trip to Port Vale in League One before the meeting of two relegated sides gives us a BTTS win tip. The last leg of the treble gives Portsmouth a chance to redeem themselves after denying us a winner on this column last weekend.

⚪Bolton to beat Port Vale – 5/4

Bolton have started the season well and I fancy them to carry on that form and take 3 points from Vale Park. Picking up 4 points from a tough couple of games (Ipswich & Wycombe) tells me that Bolton will be among the promotion hopefuls this season. They made 8 changes in midweek but still managed to hit 5 past Salford who are yet to concede a goal in League Two.

Vale were spanked 4-0 last weekend at fellow promoted Exeter and although they turned round a deficit on the opening day to beat Fleetwood 2-1, both goals came from set pieces and I don’t see them causing too much trouble for Bolton.

Added to that, Bolton have had 24 hours longer to prepare/rest for the game due to Port Vale playing their 1st round cup tie on Wednesday, as opposed to Tuesday. With the soaring temperatures expected, that 24 hours extra rest could prove an even bigger advantage than normal.

🐏Derby to win and BTTS vs Barnsley – 16/5

This looks a cracking game on paper between 2 sides who were plying their trade in the championship last season.

I fancy Derby here but am willing to back them to win and BTTS for a juicer price. Derby have started the season well and although they lost away at Charlton last weekend, they had much of the game and created some good opportunities.

Barnsley have started slower but last weeks win at home to Cheltenham will have kick started their season. Confidence will be sky high following their last minute winner at Championship Middlesbrough in midweek too. I feel they will be competitive and create chances but just go down to a Derby side who will be backed by a packed home crowd.

🔵Portsmouth to beat Cheltenham – 6/5

Pompey let me down last week and drew a blank when I fancied them to beat Lincoln comfortably but im going back in on them this this weekend. With 2 draws in the opening 2 games, I don’t think they have to wait much longer until they record their first 3 points of the campaign. The forward line is what excites me about Pompey this season and their front 3 all grabbing a goal in their 3-0 win at Cardiff in midweek will give them no end of confidence.

Cheltenham on the other hand are coming into the weekend on the back of a humiliating 7-0 defeat at home to newly promoted Exeter in the Carabao cup. That coupled with 2 league defeats in the opening 2 games (albeit tough games to start), confidence is low and Im happy to take Pompey, at odds against, to put further misery into the Robins.
