The European transfer rumour round-up today

Alexis Sanchez

Many clubs across Europe, especially those whose seasons have finished, will have already turned their attention to the summer and planning for the 2019/20 campaign.

With many of us expecting a lively summer transfer window, we have searched the back pages and found some of the biggest stories from across Europe:

Wilfried Zaha seeking a Crystal Palace exit

While Crystal Palace might have enjoyed a bright end to the year, it appears that one of the Eagles’ standout performers is seeking a Selhurst Park exit.

The Daily Mail are reporting that attacking talisman Wilfried Zaha has informed the Premier League club that he wishes to leave this summer in search of Champions League football.

Zaha, who has previously discussed his desire to win major trophies earlier last month, met Palace Chairman Steve Parish this week following the conclusion of the Premier League season and informed Parish that he is ready to move.

Although the former Manchester United winger is looking to end his stay in South London, Roy Hodgson’s side have whacked an £80million price tag on the 26-year-old and have no intention of selling this summer.

Back in August, many were shocked by the news that Zaha had signed a new five-year extension with the Eagles, a deal that does not include a release clause.

A host of clubs have been linked with the Ivory Coast international over the past couple of seasons including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Spurs and Borussia Dortmund.

Alexis Sanchez on his way to Italy?

After enduring a woeful end to the Premier League campaign and failing to secure a top-four finish, Manchester United are expected to be one of the busier teams during the summer transfer window.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might be looking to bring some new faces to Old Trafford, it is being reported by The Independent that Alexis Sanchez’s lacklustre spell is drawing to an end.

Once again failing to find his feet following his high-profile move from Arsenal back in January 2018, it appears that the Red Devils are looking to get Sanchez’s £400,00-a-week wages off their books.

The Independent are reporting that Serie A giants Juventus are interested in bringing the 30-year-old to Turin and have gone as far to suggest that there has been concrete meetings between intermediaries and both clubs.

Along with having the option to secure a move to Juventus this summer, fellow Italian outfit Inter Milan are interested in the winger.

Sanchez has just five foals in 45 appearances across all competitions.

He has scarcely been seen in the Premier League this season as he struggles for form and fitness, making 20 appearances and scoring just once.

Chelsea will NOT extend Gonzalo Higuain’s loan

With it being reported that Alexis Sanchez might be on the move to Juventus this summer, The Daily Mail are reporting that the Manchester United man will not be the only player heading to the Allianz.

After managing to score just five goals in his 21 appearances for Chelsea, misfiring loanee Gonzalo Higuain will not be extending his stay at Stamford Bridge past the end of the season.

Arriving on a six-month loan deal back in January, the Blues do have an option to extend the loan for another season for £15.7million or buy him outright for £31.6m.

While the 31-year-old appears to be heading back to Italy this summer, The Daily Mail are also suggesting that Juventus will be looking to move the striker on immediately as he still has two years left on an extremely lucrative deal.

Although one forward might be heading out the door in West London, it is also being reported that one striker will be extending his stay with the former Champions.

Olivier Giroud is expected to stay, with Chelsea set to trigger a one-year option on a contract which expires this year.

Giroud, 32, has been restricted mostly to Europa League football since Higuain was signed and has made no secret of the fact he would like to play more.

Bayern Munich planning a Leroy Sane swoop

Only days removed from reclaiming their Premier League crown, The Daily Record are reporting that one of Manchester City’s brightest young stars is topping Bayern Munich’s summer wishlist.

Having to settle for a place on the bench at the back end of the season, Leroy Sane was an unused substitute in City’s trip to Brighton on Sunday and Pep Guardiola’s former employers are confident of striking a deal for the German international.

While Manchester City’s stance remains that they do not want to part with last year’s PFA Young Player of the Year, the 23-year-old has turned down several contract extensions with the Sky Blues.

Sane’s current deal at the Etihad runs until the summer of 2021.

The Daily Record have gone as far to suggest that the Bundesliga heavyweights have been granted permission to speak to the Germany international’s representatives with a view to agreeing to contractual terms.

Sane cost City £37million after signing from fellow German outfit Schalke back in August 2016 and Manchester City would want a considerable profit in return for the 23-year old.

Matthijs de Ligt inches closer to a Barcelona switch

With it appearing that want away Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann is on the verge of completing a move to the Nou Camp this summer, it is being suggested by MARCA that the defending La Liga champions aren’t done there.

The Spanish outlet are reporting that Ajax defensive talisman Matthijs de Ligt has decided to join Ernesto Valverde’s side this summer and only something completely unforeseen will prevent that from happening. Both Barelona and Ajax were beaten to the Champions League final by Liverpool and Spurs and you can see all our Tottenham vs Liverpool betting tips ahead of the final in Madrid.

Playing a vital part in Ajax’s double-winning campaign that included them winning the Eredivisie title for the first time in five years, It is also being reported that all parties have agreed on his salary and all personal details have been completed.

While the Dutch sensation has been linked with both Manchester United and Liverpool this summer, the central defender is keen to link up with fellow Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong who joined the Catalonia club in a €75miliion move back in January.

The 19-year-old is seen to be a longtime successor for Gerard Pique.
