England Women to beat Sweden Women

England went marching on against Spain in the quarter-final of the Women’s Euros on Wednesday and could reach their first ever major final if they progress past Sweden on Tuesday evening.

Bramall Lane is set to be packed out for the big occasion, with the Lionesses having scored in each of their last 10 fixtures in all competitions, the last blank being a goalless draw against Spain.

That being said, England did lose their last game against the Scandinavian outfit in the third-placed playoff at the 2019 World Cup, although they have seen a huge improvement since then under Sarina Weigman.

FC Midtjylland are a side who are used to playing early on in the calendar due to their need to qualify for the competition proper via the Danish Superliga’s poor co-efficient, and they take on Cypriot outfit AEK Larnaca in an away tie.

With their record in the second qualifying round of Europe’s premier competition over the last decade being generally impressive – just one loss in their four attempts coming at the hands of Kazakh side Astana – Bo Henriksen’s side are well rehearsed on the stage.

And they will hope there will be no theatrics this time round after a 1-1 draw at home in the first leg – their nouse should drag them through, and at 10/11 it represents a good price.

 

Ludogorets Razgrad to beat Shamrock Rovers

Shamrock Rovers rarely make it to the second qualifying round of the Champions League, and having reached that stage just once in the last 10 years, they lost to Lithuanian minnows Ekranas when it counted.

This year they finally got to the promised land, although a 3-0 loss away in Razgrad has killed any chance of advancing.

And with the visitors a healthy-looking 31/21 to beat their Irish counterparts in Dublin on Tuesday evening, an already defeated Rovers could fail to muster any determination ahead of their inevitable drop into the Europa League.

 

Viktoria Plzen to beat HJK Helsinki

Plzen are a side who, historically, have fared well in the Champions League despite only debuting in 2011-12. They advanced to the group stage that season, beating Rosenborg and Copenhagen in both legs of both ties and even managed a 2-2 draw against AC Milan before taking Schalke to extra time in the Europa League round of 32.

Similarly, they reached the group stages of the competition just two years later and beat Roma in 2018.

They face HJK Helsinki to secure their place in the third qualifying round this campaign, and a 2-1 away win has set them up perfectly to advance in front of their home crowd at the Doosan Arena. 5/11? Go on then.
