Will this former Premier League favourite rise again?
The 2016/17 campaign certainly hasn’t been one to remember for former Newcastle United and Hull City winger, Hatem Ben Arfa. Although the 30-year-old Frenchman is finally starting to get some much needed game time with PSG across the tail-end of the season, it remains to be seen whether or not the tricky wide-man is destined to stay with the Parisian giants.
With the summer transfer window already rapidly approaching, could a surprise move back among the English top-flight await Ben Arfa in what could ultimately prove a make-or-break season for the undoubtedly talented attacker?

When it comes to making a truly impactful difference inside the final third, this is one player who clearly has what it takes to make things happen. Fans of OGC Nice know full well what Ben Arfa is capable of when playing to the best of his abilities. We all want to see footballers with daring confidence, unrivalled technical skill and the ability to score absolute screamers from anywhere inside the opposition’s half – so why wouldn’t a plucky Premier League team look to take advantage of the winger’s distinct lack of game time with PSG?
Whilst the former Newcastle United favourite is likely more than determined to make the most of his current status as a PSG player, it seems as if Unai Emery simply doesn’t fancy Hatem Ben Arfa at this particular juncture.
With the likes of Julian Draxler, Javier Pastore and Angel Di Maria seemingly ahead of Ben Arfa in the pecking order down at the Parc des Princes this season, perhaps the Frenchman’s ongoing struggle to cement his place at PSG remains somewhat understandable in the cold light of day. Maybe Ben Arfa was simply destined to fall sort among the French capital regardless of how well he may have applied himself over the course of the current league campaign.

If Hatem Ben Arfa is to truly take the world stage by storm once again in the not too distant future, the 30-year-old winger simply must apply a little more consistency within his overall game. Top-flight managers need to count upon their first choice assets to successfully get the job done no matter what. As Ben Arfa hasn’t always represented the most reliable footballer on the planet, his inability to impress at PSG doesn’t exactly come as that much of surprise.
Yet as the modern game is currently experiencing a clear lack of genuine excitement and unpredictability at this particular stage in the proceedings, players of Ben Arfa’s ilk must be cherished and highly sought after when all is said and done.
An ambitious Premier League team with hopes of disrupting the ongoing status quo within the English top-flight – such as Everton, Southampton and West Ham United for that matter – could therefore benefit greatly from the Frenchman’s current situation at PSG. If no team fails to see the light when it comes to Hatem Ben Arfa however, it would be a great shame to lose out on one of the most potentially exciting and daring players of the current generation.
