Dortmund still maintain their three-point advantage over Bayern at the top of the table, and they will have the chance to put the pressure back on Niko Kovac’s side with three points at the WWK Arena on Friday night. Their title-rivals face a difficult trip to face Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend, and Lucien Favre will see this as the perfect opportunity to put his side six points clear, albeit for 24 hours. They have a great record against this opposition, and they are facing them at the right time. Augsburg have lost six of their last seven games in the Bundesliga, and save for a 3-0 victory over Mainz, they are conceding goals left, right and centre. Freiburg had just 11 shots in last weekend’s game, but still managed five goals, whilst Bayern recently netted three times here, despite being given an early scare. Despite their troubles at the back, Augsburg don’t have too many issues going forward, and they should play their part in an entertaining and absorbing contest. This won’t be a simple 1-0 Dortmund win, and they will have to score a few if they are to collect three points. Therefore Dortmund Win and Over 1.5 Goals looks like a sensible choice at a shade of odds-on. Over/Under Goals Prediction

Unsurprisingly, over 2.5 Goals will be popular in this game, and it’s priced up at around 8/13. Dortmund are the divisions highest scorers with 57 goals so far this campaign, and they knocked three past in-form Leverkusen on Sunday afternoon. No side in the Bundesliga have kept fewer clean sheets than the hosts, with just two shutouts this season, and they are likely to struggle with the visitors movement in this tie. They have also conceded 50% more goals than they had done at this stage last season, and their lack of efficiency at the back could make this a very high-scoring tie. Over 3.5 Goals has landed in each of their last three matches, whilst it also would have paid out in three of Dortmund’s last five Bundesliga ties. Anytime Goalscorer Prediction

Borussia Dortmund have a number of goalscorer options ahead of this game, and although the goals have dried up for Paco Alcacer recently, he remains at the top of the betting. Mario Gotze has been in excellent form in recent weeks, and has scored a number of important goals. The 26-year only has four for the season, although injuries have prevented him from playing every game this campaign. One of his quartet of strikes came against Augsburg in the 4-3 victory earlier in the campaign, and the remaining three have all arrived since the end of the January. He may be the best option in this market and is our anytime goalscorer prediction for this Friday night footballing fiesta.

Following their 0-0 draw with Nurnberg two weeks ago, some punters will be reticent about backing Dortmund odds-on away from home. However, they missed some pretty big chances in that game, and Nurnberg were well-organised for their caretaker manager, who went back to basics for that particular occasion. Manuel Baum is still in charge of Augsburg for the time being and is assisted by Jens Lehmann, but the pair have struggled to organise their back-line and understandably, they are outsiders at 15/4. It’s 16/5 for them to follow in the footsteps of Nurnberg and grab a draw. Dortmund are 8/13 to take all three points.

It’s also 8/13 for Over 2.5 Goals, although our predictions suggest that Over 3.5 Goals will offer more value at 6/4.

Paco Alcacer is the 10/3 favourite to break the deadlock, but he isn’t always a guaranteed starter. Mario Gotze is 9/2 to score the first goal of the game whilst Jadon Sancho is likely to be very popular at 6/1 in this market.
