Cardiff vs Fulham predictions and football betting tips for the FA Cup on Sunday 8th January with the best odds for each selection and reasons for our bet tips.
Two Championship sides meet in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon as Fulham visit the Cardiff City Stadium. We have three tips for the match.
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock was very bullish following his sides 1-0 win against Aston Villa on Bank Holiday Monday. Joe Ralls scored the only goal of the game, but he didn’t know too much about it. ‘They all count’ is the old adage and this one was certainly an important one. Three points moved them up to 19th in the table and put a poor run of form behind them. Warnock rued his side’s late collapse against Barnsley and Brentford, but they held firm against the former Premier League side and secured the victory.
Warnock declared his side will kick on from this and they’ll stop giving away soft goals. Time will tell whether he’s correct. He has admitted he’s likely to heavily rotate for this fixture with a number of fringe players likely to play some part. It’s likely to be a talented XI, but some unfamiliar names will get the chance to impress against the Cottagers.
The Bluebirds have lost just one of their last five home games and are always extremely tough to beat here. Fulham were extremely unlucky to leave Craven Cottage with nothing to show for it. They had the best of the first half and missed a penalty before Brighton eventually turned the game on it’s head with two quick fire goals.
Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have had an excellent couple of months in the Championship and have been steadily climbing the table. They’ve got plenty of firepower and determination in abundance as they displayed in their recent 4-4 draw against Wolves. Stefan Johansen and Floyd Ayite have been scoring plenty of goals for the West London club in the process.
The former Watford man will have to be careful how he handles the Chris Martin situation with the Derby man refusing to play for the club and demanding to return to the Rams. It’s a blow for Fulham, but they’ll look to sign a striker who is committed to the cause.
Take the draw no bet on Fulham here to kick-off our Cardiff vs Fulham betting tips. We don’t know what kind of line-up the Cottagers will field, but Cardiff are set to make plenty of changes and it could affect their rhythm. The best odds for this first football tip are 4/5 with Stan James.
There are always goals with Fulham around and Cardiff aren’t shy of scoring either so for our second FA Cup betting tip on this one we’re looking at goals, BTTS and over 2.5 is Evens with bet365.
Stefan Johansen has been in fine goalscoring form this season and could continue his run here so our anytime goalscorer tip for Cardiff vs Fulham is Stefan Johansen to score anytime at 11/2 with Paddy Power.
Cardiff are set to make changes for this – Ben Amos, Jazz Richards, Semi Ajayi, Craig Noone, Stuart O’Keefe and Lex Immers could all be given a start here. Peter Whittingham, Kenneth Zohore and Matt Connolly could all take a place on the bench.
Fulham are unlikely to make as many changes but Matt Smith is likely to lead the line. He will want to make an impression with rumours of a return for Ross McCormack.
Two of the last three meetings between these sides have ended all square. They drew 2-2 back on the 20th of August.
Cardiff are unbeaten in the last three fixtures here, winning 2 of those encounters.
They’ve never met in the FA Cup before.
Cardiff are fractionally a bigger price despite being the home side. They are around 7/4 with Fulham priced at 6/4. If you fancy these sides to play out another draw, you can get 5/2 with most firms. Chris Martin leads the goalscoring market, but he is very unlikely to feature again for Fulham.
