Blackburn vs Aston Villa Betting Tips

Aston Villa suffered a humbling at the hands of Sheffield United prior to the International Break and Steve Bruce has once again come under fire from large sections of support. The affable Geordie has not suitably replaced his outgoing defenders and is continuing to use Mile Jedinak as a temporary centre-back which is not working effectively enough. They have made a number of new additions and the additions of Anwar El Ghazi and Tammy Abraham certainly look interesting but they look a bit top heavy. Blackburn were also beaten easily prior to the International Break and they will need to regroup. It wasn’t a bad performance from Rovers but they were caught out regularly by a potent Bristol City side who looked very slick when moving forward. That was Tony Mowbray’s first defeat of the season and they have to make sure they don’t make it back-to-back defeats here. They’ve won just one of their three home games so far this season with Reading and Millwall leaving Lancashire with a point and I think Villa can do likewise. Bruce’s men can’t be as bad as they were against Sheffield United and they should be better here. Blackburn still have a few injury concerns and they are struggling to finish sides off here. The draw is available at 23/10 with Bet Victor and is the first of our Blackburn vs Aston Villa predictions for this Saturday afternoon Championship fixture.

Both of these two sides had days to forget a fortnight ago and whilst they will have been working on defensive shape in training, the problems may not have been fully resolved. Villa have seen BTTS land in each of their six games so far this season whilst Blackburn have found the net in five of their six matches so far this campaign. Rovers’ defence looked shaky against both Reading and Bristol City and Villa’s abundance of firepower will really test their resolve. Another potentially high-scoring affair awaits here and Both Teams to Score? Yes looks like an excellent bet at 5/6 with Ladbrokes. It is the second of our Blackburn vs Aston Villa Predictions.

Blackburn’s Bradley Dack has started the season in superb fashion but he has been suffering from injury problems and although he’s tempting in the anytime goalscorer market, it’s advised to look elsewhere. Charlie Mulgrew has netted each of Blackburn’s last three goals in the Championship and at a decent price of 11/2, he’s worth siding with again. The defender is handy from a set-piece and is an expert penalty taker. With Villa’s clumsy defence, it is certainly worth backing him to find the net during the 90 minutes here. Charlie Mulgrew to score anytime is priced at 11/2 with Paddy Power and is the third of our Blackburn vs Aston Villa predictions.

Blackburn vs Aston Villa Betting Preview

Despite their abject recent performances and the general disharmony around the club, Villa have been priced up as the joint-favourites for this clash. They are 17/10 with Betfred but many punters may choose to look elsewhere. It’s the same price for Blackburn to take all three points and pick up their third victory of the campaign. The draw is our prediction and can be backed at 12/5.

Both of Blackburn’s two victories this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline and they will looking to keep it tight here. The 1-0 correct score is available at 13/2 whilst Under 2.5 Goals could be considered 8/11. Over 2.5 is likely to be extremely popular and seems a decent price at 11/10. Both sides are capable of magic in the final third.

Villa have plenty of attacking options and Steve Bruce will have some decisions to make. For Blackburn, their side picks itself. Adam Armstrong hasn’t scored in the Championship yet and faces competition from Ben Brereton who joined from Nottingham Forest. He is 13/5 to score anytime in this fixture. Villa’s Tammy Abraham will be desperate to get on the score-sheet and can be backed at 7/4 whilst Jonathon Kodjia is always popular in this market and is available at 2/1.
