It has been a tough season back in the Championship for Barnsley and they’re rooted to the bottom of the Championship table having picked up just nine points this term. They have finally announced Austrian Gerhard Struber as their new manager and the fans will be hoping this brings a change of fortune on the pitch.

As for Blackburn Rovers, they have had an indifferent start to the campaign and are down in 18th place in the table, just five points above the relegation places. They’ve only won one of their last eight matches now, however their home form is where they’re picking up points and they’ve only lost one of their last seven league games at Ewood Park, so they should get a much needed three points in this one.

For the first of this weekend’s Blackburn vs Barnsley predictions, I’m going to go for Blackburn to win and both teams to score. The visitors have scored in their last three away matches and Blackburn have not kept a clean sheet in their last four home fixtures. Goals look assured here and this looks like a must have selection in our both teams to score and win tip this weekend.

I’m predicting the goals will flow in this match so the next betting tip is going to be over 2.5 goals. This has happened in three of Blackburn’s last four home fixtures and in seven of their last nine games. As for Barnsley’s over 2.5 goals history, the stats are even stronger, with their last four having three goals or more in and six of their last eight.

The new manager might breathe some life into Barnsley but their defence is a big worry and it is hard to see them stopping the likes of Bradley Dack and Adam Armstrong both scoring and creating chances.
