Championship Betting Tips – 5 Bets for 22-23rd September

Sky Bet Championship predictions

Championship best betting tips for the matches taking place this weekend – Friday 21st September and Saturday 22nd September. The action this weekend kicks-off with Wigan vs Bristol City at 7:45pm on Friday and ends on Saturday with QPR vs Norwich at 5:30pm. See our predictions and betting tips for both of those Championship games.

West Brom vs Millwall – Saturday 3pm

The first of our Championship betting tips comes from the Hawthornes on Saturday afternoon. Darren Moore’s side have been in imperious form lately and they look devastating going forward. Harvey Barnes has excelled on loan from Leicester and he is pulling the string in behind the deadly duo of Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle. They were on the attack from the off against Bristol City and hit four past a usually water-tight Robins. Millwall struggled to cope with QPR’s movement in midweek and they are likely to find the Baggies too hot to handle. This price will probably shorten pre-kick off and West Brom are likely to be included in many people’s Saturday accumulators. The hosts should be able to continue their march up the division and it’s definitely worth snapping up the 3/4 on offer with Betway

Middlesbrough vs Swansea – Saturday 3pm

The second of our betting tips comes from the Riverside Stadium where Middlesbrough host Swansea on Saturday. Tony Pulis’ side may have slipped up last weekend against Norwich but they are incredibly difficult to beat in front of their own fans. They are yet to concede a goal in Teesside this season and they are 4/4 here. Swansea were defeated in midweek but they were fairly unlucky and Graham Potter will be determined to bounce back here. They’ve conceded just six times in eight games and have kept three clean sheets and Boro could find it difficult to break them down. The odds reflect their recent form and a low-scoring game is expected. To find more value, a 0-0 draw at HT is an interesting bet at 6/4 with Paddy Power. It would have landed in five of Swansea’s eight matches so far this season and also in three of Middlesbrough’s last four.

Sheffield United vs Preston – Saturday 3pm

Preston are enduring a season of struggle and Alex Neil’s side couldn’t take advantage of Leeds’ injury problems in midweek. Alex Neil struggled to turn the tide at Norwich when the chips were down and it’s a worrying time for Lilywhites fans. They are yet to score an away goal this season and could suffer a fifth straight defeat in this one. The Blades drew 0-0 with Birmingham in midweek and they were left frustrated by Birmingham. Chris Wilder’s side have been in decent form this season and have already beaten Norwich and Villa at Bramall Lane. They should be able to compound Preston’s misery this season and get back to winning ways here. You can back Sheffield United at 10/11 with Betfred and take advantage of their £30 free bet.

Derby vs Brentford – Saturday 3pm

Brentford took the lead in midweek but were pegged back in the second half by Ipswich. The Bees are yet to win on the road and there is no guarantee that they will leave Pride Park with maximum points. One thing that is pretty much guaranteed is that they will create chances here. Neal Maupay has been the biggest beneficiary of those opportunities and he has netted eight times in his opening seven appearances. He’s scored six in four and netted a superb headed goal at Portman Road. He’s full of confidence and appears to be over his injury problems. He’s far more prolific than last season and he should be backed to score for the fifth game in a row. Neal Maupay to score anytime is priced at 5/4 with Bet365 and looks the best bet in this Championship fixture.

Aston Villa vs Sheffield Wednesday – Saturday 3pm

Aston Villa kept their first clean sheet of the season on Tuesday with a straightforward 2-0 success over poor-travellers Rotherham. Steve Bruce is still under pressure and there are still question marks about their defence. They conceded five times in their opening three home games and Sheffield Wednesday are likely to offer far more going forward than their South Yorkshire counterparts did in midweek. The Owls are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and have only failed to score on one occasion so far. They have the threat of Adthe Nuhiu and Steven Fletcher and they should be able to find the back of the net in this one. There were nine goals in the two meetings between these sides last season and another high-scoring contest awaits. Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 10/11 with Betfair and looks a really good bet.
