Championship Betting Tips – 5 Bets for October 6th

Sky Bet Championship predictions

Championship best betting tips for the matches taking place this weekend – Saturday 6th October. The action this weekend kicks-off at lunchtime with Leeds betting tips at 12:30pm and concludes on Sunday. See our predictions and betting tips for each of the televised Championship games.

Birmingham vs Rotherham – Saturday 3pm

The first of our Championship betting tips comes from St.Andrews. Despite being heavily backed last weekend, Birmingham weren’t able to get the better of lowly Ipswich and they have another winnable looking home match on Saturday. Garry Monk’s side are incredibly difficult to beat but turning draws into wins has been incredibly tough. They have drawn each of their last five matches here and have conceded just five times during that period. They are well-organised and have been creating chances but failing to put them away. They probably should have beaten Brentford in midweek and confidence remains high. Rotherham’s away form is troublesome and their record outside of South Yorkshire doesn’t make pretty reading. They haven’t scored on their travels since the opening day of the season and they don’t score many goals from open play. They could struggle to find a way through this Blues back-line and this could be a tough 90 minutes for the Millers attack. Under 2.5 Goals looks a very decent bet in this game and it is available at 4/5 with Bet365.

Swansea vs Ipswich – Saturday 3pm

The second of our betting tips comes from the Liberty Stadium. There is a feel-good factor around this Swansea side at the moment and Graham Potter has transformed this side into a very energetic and workmanlike unit. The former Ostersunds boss has enjoyed a decent start to life in South Wales and players such as Oli McBurnie has revealed that the dressing room is a very pleasant place to be this season. That team spirit should see them through this fixture on Saturday afternoon. They put three past QPR in their last home fixture and they should be able to see of an under-performing Ipswich side. Unlike Potter, Paul Hurst has not enjoyed life in the Championship so far. There are signs of improvement but sloppy defending cost them against Middlesbrough in midweek and they might come unstuck again here. Swansea are odds-on but can still be backed at 5/6 with Ladbrokes and they are the second of Championship predictions for this weekend.

West Brom vs Reading – Saturday 3pm

West Brom are the entertainers of the division and they’ve been excellent on the eye in recent weeks. Darren Moore’s side overcame Preston 3-2 last weekend and they came back to draw 2-2 at Hillsborough on Wednesday night. They have a lively forward line and the excellent Harvey Barnes and they are likely to score more goals this weekend. Reading took a backwards step in midweek and were beaten by QPR at the Majeski. Paul Clement admitted he was disappointed and blamed himself for the defeat. He will be looking to bounce back but fixtures don’t come much tougher than a trip to the Hawthornes. The Baggies have won four of five here and have netted 16 of their 27 goals at this stadium. The Royals have only lost once on the road but are yet to keep a clean sheet. They’ve scored eight times in four away games and did hit the post in midweek. They are definitely worth a goal in this fixture. Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score is a good price at 11/10 with William Hill and that is the third of our predictions for Saturday afternoon.

Sheffield United vs Hull – Saturday 3pm

Sheffield United picked up a decent win at Ewood Park in midweek and the Blades have quietly climbed up to third in the table. The Blades have a good balance and the addition of Ollie Norwood has been a turning point of their season. Chris Wilder’s side will be ready for this quick turnaround and they will be hunting for their eighth win of the campaign. Since their opening day defeat to Swansea, Bramall Lane has been a happy hunting ground for the Blades and they should be able to collect three points here. Hull were defeated in midweek and that is three defeats in four for the Tigers. Nigel Adkins is doing his best with a limited squad but he’s struggling to get a tune out of them. They picked up a point against Middlesbrough last weekend but were lucky to come away with something and the Blades are likely to be clinical in front of goals. Back Sheffield United at 7/10 with Betway.

Millwall vs Aston Villa – Saturday 3pm

It’s not been a good September for either of these two clubs but there is light at the end of the tunnel for both sides. Millwall picked up a very useful point at the City Ground in midweek and displayed adequate fight and spirit to get back into the game from 2-0 down. Villa have dispensed with the services of Steve Bruce and will start their search for a new manager this week. Conceding goals has been a problem for both teams and with Villa’s defensive shortage, don’t be surprised to see that pattern continue. Villa may have to deploy full-back James Bree as an emergency centre-back with the absence of James Chester. Villa have conceded 11 goals in six matches and may be vulnerable to Millwall’s attack here. Neil Harris’ side haven’t kept a clean sheet since August 11th and have seen BTTS land in 7/11 games this season. It’s also landed in every single one of their home matches at the Den and it’s priced at a reasonable 3/4 with Sport Pesa.
