QPR vs Reading Prediction & Betting Tips: The Hosts to Edge a Tight Encounter

QPR betting tips

QPR picked up their fourth away win of the season at the weekend with Mark Warburton’s young side edging out Hull. The R’s are back at home and they’ll be hoping to make it successive victories when they host Reading on Tuesday night. The Royals were also collecting three points on Saturday and Mark Bowen’s men will hope to impress in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

QPR vs Reading Preview – 22/10/2019 Championship

QPR rose to fifth in the table with an impressive three points at the KCOM at the weekend. Eberechi Eze got the headlines once again, converting twice from the penalty spot. He drew the foul on both occasions, tricking Kevin Stewart into upending him and he’ll be the man to watch in this contest. Ryan Manning was also influential whilst Ilias Chair went about his business as usual.

QPR have now won four times on the road and it tends to be all or nothing with the West Londoners. They’ve only drawn once so far this season.

Their defence continues to be breached however and Josh Magennis’ late strike made it a nervy finish on Humberside. They’ve still not kept a clean sheet in twelve attempts and have conceded 21 times (only the bottom two have shipped more).

Reading got off to the perfect start under new boss Mark Bowen with a 1-0 victory over Preston. The Royals left it late with the impressive Matt Miazga’s towering header winning the game in stoppage time. It was just their third victory of the campaign and although Bowen’s style may not win over the fans, it helped them inch clear of immediate danger.

Reading’s Direct Approach Could Trouble QPR

Bowen decided to go back to basics on Saturday and the long ball was used fairly effectively. The three centre backs of Michael Morrison, Matt Miazga and Liam Moore also prevented Preston from getting much joy in the final third. The Welshman has given a second chance to many of the players who were left out in the cold by former boss Jose Gomes and he even hinted that Chris Gunter could be in line for a recall at some stage.

It’s an interesting approach from Bowen, whose modus operandi will be to keep Reading away from the dreaded dropzone and it may be a case of eeking out a few points in the opening weeks of his tenure. I think they will cause problems for QPR and will look to stifle their creative players. There might not be much between them.

Impressive Ejaria

Ovie Ejaria can become a Reading player permanantly in the summer and he looks like a real snip at £3m. The Liverpool man was everywhere on Saturday and was the club’s main threat. He had three efforts in that game and came very close to scoring with two shots from outside the box. He averages 1.9 goals per game and is the Berkshire’s joint-top scorer on two goals.

QPR’s defence will have to keep an eye on him in this game and he seems the likeliest man to find a way through.

Ovie Ejaria is 9/2 to score anytime with Unibet and could notch for the visitors in this contest. Especially against a QPR defence that is yet to keep a clean sheet.

QPR’s Constant Threat Could Just Give Them the Edge

Although Reading were far tougher on Saturday, that was only a small sample of their abilities and this will be much tougher on the road. True, it’s not far for them to travel, however very few teams win here and only West Brom and Swansea have left with maximum points so far.

QPR are always buzzing around and they’re always creating chances. They could just edge this game against a far more compact and resolute Reading side.
