Reading vs Leeds Preview

Whether or not they deserved the three points is up for debate, but Reading’s survival hopes were given a shot in the arm with a 3-2 victory over Wigan. It was a low quality affair, which was decided in injury time by a Yakou Meite goal, but this will be altogether much tougher. The Royals have already improved under the tutelage of Jose Gomes, and they are tougher to beat. They have not been beaten at the Majeski since New Year’s Day, but Leeds are far better than the likes of Rotherham, Blackburn and Aston Villa (on their travels). Marcelo Bielsa will be boosted by the news that Patrick Bamford will be fit enough to play this game. The striker hobbled off at the weekend, with rumours of ligament damage, but the former Middlesbrough man suffered an impact injury, and he will be able to play some part in this fixture. Having said that, personnel does not seem an issue for the Argentinian, whose teams tend to perform well even in times of crisis. Leeds’ away form has been mixed recently, but they have beaten three of the other four relegation candidates on their travels, and are yet to go to Portman Road. If you fancy a price play, Leeds to win by a 1 goal margin will add significant value, but we’re going for a straightforward Leeds win. The Whites are the first of our Championship betting tips for this evening’s clash.

Reading vs Leeds Goals Betting Tips

QPR are the only side in the Championship to prevent Leeds scoring on the road. In fairness, the Rs defended diligently throughout, with Bielsa’s men having a rare off day in front of goal. Reading have kept three clean sheets at home all season, all arriving against mid-table opposition. Despite the absence of Nelson Oliveira, Reading do still carry a threat, and Jose Gomes has them playing some nice football. His Rio Ave side were involved in many high-scoring games, and Reading fans will be hoping their side can carry Saturday’s momentum into this tie. They failed to net at Elland Road, but I think they can strike here. Both Teams to Score? Yes is the second of our Reading vs Leeds betting tips.

Reading vs Leeds Anytime Goalscorer Predictions

Patrick Bamford is Leeds’ focal point, and it’s a huge relief for supporters that he is able to take part in this game. He is a confidence striker, who tends to score in streaks, and he’s currently on a nice run of form. Bielsa’s preferred formation allows plenty of midfield creativity, but there is a huge reliance on the striker, and Bamford has proved that he can shoulder than burden. He’s netted four in his last three, and I think he can add to his tally here. He will eyeing up double figures and he is the third of our Championship predictions for Tuesday night’s tie.

Reading vs Leeds Match Betting Preview

Given their prominent position in the league, Leeds are unsurprisingly priced at 7/10 for success here. Their recent away form has been patchy, but their win at Ashton Gate displayed an element of solidity on the road, which will come in handy during the promotion shake-up. Reading, who have battled well in recent weeks can be backed at 17/4 with the draw available at 3/1.

Goals-wise, the bookies are finding it difficult to put their finger on an outcome here. Over 2.5 Goals and Under 2.5 Goals are both priced at 10/11, and the Evens on 2-3 Goals exactly may be a better option.

The aforementioned Patrick Bamford is 15/4 favourite to net the opening goal in this game, and is fair distance ahead of the remainder of the field. The mercurial Pablo Hernandez is next at 6/1 to break the deadlock, with Bamford’s understudy Tyler Roberts available at 8/1. Saturday’s hero Yakou Meite is a 9/1 shot to score the opener.
