Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough Predictions

The first of our Championship predictions this weekend comes from Hillsborough. Middlesbrough are the visitors to South Yorkshire and it should be a fascinating tactical battle between two sides with very different approaches to the game. Sheffield Wednesday are unbeaten in four and have climbed to within three points of their opponents. Jos Luhukay’s side have been thoroughly entertaining this season with eleven of their twelve games ending with BTTS and the Owls have been unable to keep a clean sheets so far. They came close to a shutout against Bristol City but they were breached late in the game and the search goes on. Middlesbrough have had absolutely no problem keeping team off the score-sheet with Tony Pulis’ side possessing the best defence in the division. It’s just eight goals conceded for the Teessiders and they’ve also kept eight clean sheets thus far. It’s at the other end of the pitch where Boro’s struggles have been and they failed to score against Swansea, Nottingham Forest and Norwich recently. Despite seemingly possessing a healthy dose of firepower, they’ve only managed five goals in eight games and that’s a concern f0r the Middlesbrough fans. After a poor start to the season, Sheffield Wednesday appear to have found their groove and they will want to preserve their unbeaten record at home. Four of their matches here have ended all square but I can’t help feel that they are a touch underrated. Sheffield Wednesday Draw No Bet is available at 11/8 with Betfred and is the first of our Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough predictions for Friday night.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough Both Teams to Score Odds

With two very different styles of play, this is a difficult market to decipher. However, it is a 50/50 decision and I’m going to suggest that both teams do find the net in this encounter. Middlesbrough conceded twice against Forest going into the International Break and they can be got at. Sheffield Wednesday have more than enough firepower to find a way past the visitors but I’m not sure they can keep them off the score-sheet. There are a few younger players in the Wednesday line-up but they keep making mistakes at the back and I don’t think their first clean sheet will arrive in this fixture. Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 19/20 with Ladbrokes and is the second of our Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough predictions.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough Anytime Goalscorer Odds

The last of our Championship tips comes from the anytime goalscorer market. We tipped him a couple of weeks ago and he failed to oblige but we’ll return to Lucas Joao once again. The Portuguese striker is Wednesday’s top goalscorer this season and helped himself to a double prior to the International Break. He’s massively improved this season and has made a decent case to start this game. He’s often deployed through the middle which helps his goal tally and we’ll take 11/4 with Bet365 for him to bag here. Lucas Joao – Anytime Goalscorer is the third of our Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough predictions.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough Match Betting Preview

Sheffield Wednesday Win – 12/5

Draw – 23/10

Middlesbrough Win – 23/20

[global_advert id=”37941″]

A month or two ago, these two sides were separated by a number of points and at opposite ends of the table. The gap has now closed and there is just three points between them. Sheffield Wednesday are unbeaten at home so far and will be looking to continue that record. They can be backed at 12/5 in this fixture and will be fancied by many. Middlesbrough are the favourites for this game despite their stuttering form and they can be backed at 23/20. The draw will be extremely popular and can be backed at 23/10.

Middlesbrough don’t have any absentees and have a full squad to choose from. They will be tough to break down as always and it’s 4/6 for Under 2.5 Goals with the 11/5 on Under 2.5 Goals also tempting. However, the hosts don’t do low-scoring games and Over 2.5 Goals looks like a value pick in this market at 6/5. It’s 5/6 for Both Teams to Score? Yes and this would have landed during their last meeting at this stadium.

Britt Assombalonga is the visitor’s top goalscorer with five goals so far and he can be backed at 11/2 to open the scoring. He’s the same price as team-mate Jordan Hugill who is yet to open his account for his hometown club in the Championship. For the hosts, Fernando Forestieri’s return to the side has certainly helped matters and the Italian is available at 7/1 to break the deadlock. Our football tipster has opted for the in-form Lucas Joao and he is available at 15/2 to net the opener.
