Swansea vs Cardiff Prediction & Betting Tips: Bluebirds to Leave the Liberty with at Least a Point

Swansea predictions

The South Wales derby takes place on Sunday afternoon and it should be another hotly contested 90 minutes between these two rivals. Neither side has been convincing in recent weeks and there are now just four points between the pair. Swansea’s good start to the season is in danger of unravelling whilst Cardiff are finding it incredibly difficult to keep clean sheets.

Swansea vs Cardiff Preview – 27/10/2019 Championship

Neil Warnock has declared himself ‘ready for the battle’ ahead of this South Wales derby and he’ll be hoping his side will also fight for every ball throughout the 90 minutes. The experienced coach will be drilling the message into his players all week and his side are likely to start the game with plenty of intensity.

Cardiff’s recent form has been incredibly mixed and they come here off the back of a 2-2 draw at the Den on Tuesday night. It’s now three games without a win and the Bluebirds are yet to pick up a victory on the road. It’s easy to see where the problems lie on their travels with just one clean sheet in their opening seven matches and they look far too easy to penetrate away from the Cardiff City Stadium.

Swansea’s blistering start to the campaign appears to be a distant memory with Steve Cooper’s men suffering another disappointing defeat at the Liberty on Tuesday night. The Swans were second best against Brentford and they’ve now conceded four times in 180 minutes of football here.

Three defeats from four in front of their own fans is far from ideal and the confidence is slowly ebbing away. Cooper needs to find a way to galvanise his side and get them keeping clean sheets again. Just like their rivals, Swansea find clean sheets hard to come by and they’ve managed to shutout the opposition just once in their opening seven encounters.

Danny Ward is the Man of the Moment

Warnock must make a decision between Danny Ward and Robert Glatzel and the former looks like the obvious choice. He’s scored four times in 211 minutes of football and netted the opener against Millwall in midweek. Ward’s injury record is poor, but Cardiff should utilise him whilst he’s fit and firing. The Bluebirds have always created plenty of chances and Ward appears to be the man to stick them in the back of the net.

Glatzel has improved with each match and he is likely to play a significant role across the course of the campaign, but Ward’s energy is likely to cause a shaky Swansea defence plenty of problems.

He is a generous 12/5 to score anytime in this fixture with Bet365 and looks a decent bet.

Dodgy Defences

Neither side has convinced defensively so far and more mistakes are expected here. Cardiff have shipped eight goals in their last three away games whilst Swansea have now conceded six times in their last three matches here at the Liberty.

The Swans haven’t kept a clean sheet since mid-September and have conceded in each of their last five matches. Meanwhile, Cardiff have kept just a single shutout in their last five matches and that came at home.

Both Teams to Score? Yes is short and can be backed at 4/6 with Coral
