West Brom vs Bolton Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
West Bromwich Albion vs Bolton Wanderers predictions and betting tips for the weekend’s Championship fixture at the DW Stadium. These two teams suffered very different fortunes last season, which makes it an intriguing contest!
West Brom’s first Championship match since 2010 sees them entertain financially troubled Bolton Wanderers at The Hawthorns. Last month, it was reported that the Trotters were having difficulty raising the cash to pay their players having only just survived relegation on the final day. Perhaps it’s no surprised they’re 5/4 second-favourites for relegation this campaign, but a trip to the Midlands will come as a welcome football-related distraction!

West Bromwich Albion vs Bolton Wanderers Predictions
Let’s get it out in the open now! My three West Bromwich Albion vs Bolton Wanderers betting predictions are all going to be permutations of the home side winning. Personally, I can’t see much value in the 4/9 available on a home victory, so have sought some value elsewhere. The Baggies are rightly among the front-runners to seal promotion back to the Premier League, and I’m expecting them to ease past their troubled visitors here. You can get 7/5 with Betfair on them winning by a -1 handicap, with a two-goal margin certainly not looking out of the question.
[global_advert id=”37946″]You’d expect West Brom to have enough firepower to see them nicely placed in the table by Christmas, even if Salomon Rondon does leave before the transfer window shuts. The departure of Jonny Evans does raise a few more questions about what was, last season at least, a fairly leaky defence, however, which begs the question – can they keep a clean sheet here? I wouldn’t be confident on that one, which is why I’m considering the 13/5 available (Coral) on West Brom winning but both teams scoring.
[global_advert id=”37953″]The visit of Bolton is an excellent opportunity for West Brom to take the bull by the horns and stamp their authority on a Championship division that looks as wide open as ever. The fact that the hosts should be beginning the campaign with a routine three points doesn’t necessarily mean that will be the case, but on paper it’s hard to see it not happening. If Darren Moore’s side start early then it really could be a cricket score. I like the looking of West Brom winning at both half-time and full-time, and if they do score early, I can’t see them getting pegged back. BetVictor are the most generous on this market, paying 11/8.

West Bromwich Albion vs Bolton Wanderers Recommended Bets & Odds
There’s little doubt about how the bookies see this one going, which explains their skinny odds-on offerings on a West Brom triumph. You’re looking at a best-price of 1/2 on this outcome at present. A draw can be backed at just shy of 7/2 with MarathonBet, while an away win is 13/2 with Bet365 and others.

West Bromwich Albion vs Bolton Wanderers Team News
The biggest news on this front is that Bolton actually have a side to field. Press rumblings in the summer suggested a tumultuous pre-season ahead, but they have actually made a few signings to counterbalance some predictable outgoings. Ex-Charlton forward Josh Magennis could lead the line for the visitors.
There could be debuts for Kyle Bartley and Sam Johnstone, who joined from Swansea City and Manchester United respectively. Conor Townsend, who arrived from League One Scunthorpe, could also feature at left-back.
West Brom Key Player
Belgian international Nacer Chadli had a fantastic World Cup and his presence in the West Brom squad is indicative of the level of quality they still possess. The ex-Spurs winger has demonstrated his capability at a higher level than he’ll be playing in next season, so don’t be surprised if he gives the Bolton full-backs the run around.
Bolton Key Player
Sammy Ameobi featured on 25 occasions last season and will be hoping for a greater number of outings this season. The Newcastle-born forward bagged four goals in the league and carries a genuine threat in opposition boxes. Unusually tall for a wide player, Ameobi will be hoping to add that level of consistency that has arguably been missing from his game since his introduction to first-team football in 2010.
