Wigan vs Leeds Predictions

Our Championship predictions for Sunday come from the DW Stadium with Wigan hosting Leeds. The home side’s takeover has been approved and chairman David Sharpe is set to leave the club once it is complete. It isn’t likely to impact on the performances of Wigan, who have made a terrific start to the campaign and are particularly strong on their own patch. They have won four of their last six matches here, scoring seven times and conceding on just three occasions. Their away form has been troublesome but it isn’t relevant to this game so they can sit back and enjoy some home comforts once again. Their record in the North West stems back to the middle of last season and very few sides relish a trip to the DW. With four clean sheets in seven matches here, Paul Cook’s side are pretty formidable and only Swansea and Nottingham Forest have left with anything to show for it. Leeds’ recent form is still reasonably solid although it’s tailed off slightly over last couple of months. They managed to salvage a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest last weekend but were defeated in this part of the world a couple of weeks ago when facing Blackburn. They’ve won just three times on their travels so far but have netted in every single one of those away games. Their only victory in the last four on the road came against lowly Hull and I think Wigan can edge this tie and continue their fine run of form. Wigan start as the outsiders for this clash and can be backed at 23/10 with Betway. The hosts are the first of our Wigan vs Leeds predictions for Sunday afternoon.

Wigan vs Leeds Both Teams to Score Odds

Despite not having the quickest back four, Wigan have managed to keep four clean sheets at home so far. West Brom barely threatened during a rare off day whilst Rotherham are one of the league’s lowest scorers. It will be much tougher to keep Leeds off the scoresheet and I believe the Whites can find a way through the Latics rearguard. With Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe back in the side following recent injuries, they look far more threatening and they should be able to find a way through. The last two meetings between these sides have ended 1-1 and I suspect that both teams should be able to register. Both Teams to Score? Yes is available at 7/10 with Ladbrokes and you can use their £50 free bet to back this selection.

Wigan vs Leeds Anytime Goalscorer Odds

Leeds will be coming up against a player that they reportedly tried to sign in the summer. Nick Powell is likely to start for Wigan and he will be looking to show the Whites what they’re missing. The former Crewe man has a woeful injury record and his attitude is sometimes called into question but there is very little doubting his talent. He’s netted six times this season with five of those goals coming at the DW Stadium. He is always a threat and is likely to get plenty of chances throughout the 90 minutes. He is value at 13/4 with 888Sport to score anytime in this fixture and is the third of our Wigan vs Leeds predictions for Sunday lunchtime.

Wigan vs Leeds Match Betting Preview

Leeds Win – 6/5

Draw – 5/2

Wigan Win – 5/2

Despite their excellent and almost faultless home record, Wigan are the outsiders for this match and they can be backed at 5/2 to take the spoils in this one. Leeds, who are always popular with bettors can be backed at 6/5 to get back to winning ways on the road. The draw is priced at 5/2. There is never much between these two sides when they meet and the last two games have been very close.

The bookies cannot decide which way this match is going to swing in terms of goals. Over 2.5 Goals and Under 2.5 Goals are both currently available at 10/11. Leeds have seen seven of their fifteen Championship games feature three or more goals whilst it’s happened on eight occasions for Wigan, Our tipster has gone for Both Teams to Score and that’s available at 8/11.

After his controversial goal last weekend, it’s no surprise to see Kemar Roofe at the top of the first goalscorer betting and he is available at 9/2. Joe Garner is available at 13/2 to open the scoring in this one whilst Nick Powell is likely to be popular at 7/1. At a slightly bigger price, Matieusz Klich could be a value selection at 15/2. The Polish midfielder has been in good goalscoring form so far this campaign.
