This year’s ante-post Cheltenham Festival lucky 15 betting tip gets underway on Wednesday’s racecard and concludes with a selection in the big one itself, the 2019 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Selecting winners at the Cheltenham Festival can be very difficult even for the more experienced punters. However, the popular Lucky 15 bet usually offers a bonus for just one winner tipped among four selections besides yielding a useful profit if all four horses win. The following four horses could be worth noting in a 2019 Cheltenham Festival Lucky 15 for this week.
(New customer offer)
After winning the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival, Delta Work finished second in a subsequent hurdle race before embarking on a chasing career. The Gordon Elliott trained gelding is now unbeaten in three races over the larger obstacles including two Grade 1 successes and he has proven form over the three miles distance. With second-favourite Santini being the subject of a late injury scare, the Irish raider can extend his unbeaten sequence over fences.
The Gordon Elliott trained gelding Evnvoi Allen has been the main talking horse ahead of the 2019 Champion Bumper after winning all three races to date this season at short odds. None of his victories has been particularly impressive but he has displayed battling qualities often needed at Cheltenham. While Envoi Allen has commanded most headlines for this race, second favourite Blue Sari from the Willie Mullins has slightly slipped under the radar despite an emphatic performance when winning his only race during January at Gowran Park. He could upset his more favoured Irish challenger.
Betfred Odds 4/1: Bet on Blue Sari.
Paisley Park – Stayers Hurdle, Thursday 3.30
With 2018 Stayers Hurdle winner Penhill declared a non-runner for the 2019 renewal by trainer Willie Mullins, attention has focused on the rapidly improving Paisley Park as a potential winner of this contest. Since finishing with a storming late burst of speed to win a Grade 3 contest at Haydock back in November, the Emma Lavelle trained gelding has subsequently won both races including a 12-length triumph at Cheltenham where he beat most of his rivals for this contest. Another strong performance is expected in the Stayers Hurdle with Faugheen likely to be a serious challenger.
Betfred Odds 13/8: Bet on Paisley Park.
Native River – Cheltenham Gold Cup, Friday 3.30
Following his triumph in the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup, Native River has raced and been placed in two subsequent contests over inadequate distances and generally unfavourable ground. With rain now arriving, similar front-running tactics are expected from the 9-year-old gelding as he aims to ensure another stamina test. Among the more favoured horses for this race, Clan Des Obeaux has failed to win in four previous attempts at Cheltenham while 2018 RSA winner Presenting Percy has won just that single Grade 1 event over fences. Native River could repel a strong Irish challenge to claim a famous double and land our massive Cheltenham Festival lucky 15 tip this week.
A £1 lucky 15 bet on these four selections would win £484 plus any bonus you get.
