Cyprus v Wales Betting Tips and Predictions Euro 2016
Euro 2016 betting tips and Cyprus v Wales predictions for Thursday’s match with the best free football tips.
Wales take on Cyprus on Thursday evening knowing that a victory will leave them within touching distance of reaching their first major tournament since 1958.
Cyprus v Wales Predictions
Chris Coleman’s side currently sit top of Group B in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign and have already defeated Cyprus 2-1 back in October 2014 thanks to goals from David Cotterill and Hal Robson-Kanu. Unfortunately for Coleman, he may have to do without Robson-Kanu for this week’s trip to Nicosia. The Reading forward seems to relish playing international football and in particular teaming up with strike partner Gareth Bale, so it will be a big loss if he isn’t passed fit.
Robson-Kanu has had a scan on a groin injury he suffered during Reading’s 3-1 win over Brentford. One piece of good news for Coleman however is that centre-back James Chester has joined up with the squad despite missing West Brom’s victory at Stoke at the weekend.
And of course what will please the Wales boss more than anything is that superstar Bale is going into the international break off the back of a superb performance for Real Madrid. The Welsh wizard bagged a brace in his side’s 5-0 success over Real Betis on Saturday night and will be raring to go when he pulls on the famous red Welsh jersey on Thursday.
With that in mind my first Cyprus v Wales prediction is for Gareth Bale to score first, the best odds are 7/2 at Coral.
After beating Group B favourites Belgium in their last fixture, Wales will go into their clash with minnows Cyprus full of confidence, while the travelling fans will expect to see their side take all three points.
While I do predict Wales will come out on top, I think Cyprus will certainly give them a run for their money and Coleman’s side won’t have it all their own way. Cyprus have already caused one huge upset by beating Bosnia and Herzegovina in qualifying and have nine points from their six Group B matches. The Cypriots do have the ability to cause Wales some problems, but with Coleman and all of his squad knowing exactly what is at stake, I feel the class of Bale and company will eventually tell and Wales will get the job done.
My second Euro 2016 prediction for Cyprus v Wales is for Wales to win by one goal and the odds are 5/2 at Sky Bet.
Coleman has already been talking up the importance of the fixture this week, stating:
“It’s the biggest job I will ever have and it’s the biggest honour I will ever have. Every game that has come along has been bigger than the last because we are fighting for something special. We are onto something special.”
Nerves may be in place to start with, but once the game kicks off and it all settles down, the magician Bale will come to the fore and lead his country to a narrow victory and move them one step closer to Euro 2016.
Have a bet on Wales to win the match which is my last Cyprus v Wales betting tip, the best odds are 17/20 with Sky Bet.
