England vs Netherlands Preview
What a comeback it was for England on Friday night. Yes, it was a friendly, however coming from 2-0 down in the World Champions back yard and winning 3-2 is a pretty great achievement and such a confidence booster for this young English squad. Spurs’ four players who played were superb, as was Welbeck. What was impressive was the energy throughout the team and the desire even when losing in a friendly match to persist and push for goals. It will add to the expectation on the team for Euro 2016 where they start against Russia in Group B, but Roy Hodgson seems to have the right setup for this England side, and it does make you question whether Rooney can get in the starting XI now.
Watch highlights of Germany 2-3 England.
Holland have had a torrid last 12 months. They failed to qualify for Euro 2016, which was rather embarrassing for all involved. Their squad looks at its weakest in a long time, and they’ve just been beaten by France 3-2. As they have no Euros to look forward to, and therefore no imminent places in an important team to fight for, I can’t see the Dutch side playing with as much flair and style than if they were also gearing up for the summer.
England vs Netherlands Predictions
My first England v Netherlands prediction for this match is for England to win. I believe Roy will mix the squad up a little bit to give some of the other players a chance to shine, but the replacements are still as good as who played against Germany. The confidence in England compared to the Netherlands team is obvious, and with more to fight for and with 90,000 people in the stadium cheering them on, I fancy another England victory here.
My next England vs Netherlands prediction is an anytime goalscorer tip. There’s a couple you could go for here, but as I said, Roy will be changing some players around so one of the only players I can see definitely starting this match is Ross Barkley. He just pips Jamie Vardy for me here and that’s pretty much purely because of odds. Barkley loves to shoot, and will be wanting to get into Roy Hodgson’s main team rather than be considered as an impact substitution. He’s 7/2 anytime with Coral.
My final football betting tip for England vs Netherlands is a correct score. Strangely enough, this score-line is what has settled Netherlands’ last three matches. Losing to the Czech Republic and France by this score and beating Wales as well. Add this to England winning 3-2 against Germany and I’d kick myself for noticing such a quirky turn of results and not placing some money on the same score again. England to win 3-2 is 33/1 with William Hill (25/1 with most bookmakers).
