Euro 2016 Group D Preview and Predictions for Turkey
With just one week left to play of what has so far proven an absolutely captivating and enthralling 2015/16 Premier League campaign, thoughts of this summer’s upcoming Euro 2016 tournament in France understandably remain particularly high on the agenda right now.
In light of the highly anticipated spectacle, we’ve decided to continue our closer look at what Group D will seemingly have to offer, and everything Fatih Terim’s ambitious Turkish outfit can expect to achieve among the illustrious international competition…
Chances of success:
Well, although this summer’s Group D might just about represent the most formidable ‘group of death’ on offer at Euro 2016 – especially with each of Spain, Croatia and the Czech Republic all looking to successfully strive past their group-stage counterparts in the not too distant future – Turkey must nonetheless expect big things from their undoubtedly talented group of players ahead of the much anticipated tournament.
Croatia will most probably provide Turkey with their most significant group-stage rivals once Euro 2016 finally comes around however, seeing as Spain will most likely top the group with flying colours when all is said and done. But if Terim’s side can nonetheless impress within the early stages of Euro 2016, Turkey could indeed provide football fans far and wide with potential dark horses to reach the latter stages of the entire competition.
Ones to watch:
Although this outfit have certainly experienced their fair share of off-field problems in several recent qualifying campaigns that have ended in less than glorious fashion, the likes of Nuri Sahin, Arda Turan and Gokhan Tore ultimately represent some of the most exciting names in world football right in the here and now.
On the back of his dangerously effective set-piece expertise within the German Bundesliga in recent years however, Hakan Calhanoglu must ultimately go down as Fatih Terim’s greatest asset when looking to assert his side’s possible dominance at Euro 2016 this summer.
From the dug-out:
This 62-year-old Turkish tactician certainly arrives with his fair share of experience upon the European managerial scene. Previous club spells with Fiorentina, AC Milan and Galatasaray should nonetheless hold Fatih Terim in good stead once Euro 2016 is finally upon our collective footballing schedule, as well as several other meaningful stints with the Turkish national side beginning all the way back in the early 1990’s.
Turkey’s Euro 2016 Predictions:
Make no mistake about it, emerging from Group D largely unscathed will simply prove a task far easier said than done for Vicente del Bosque's formidable Spanish outfit, let alone for every other side looking to test the former world champions in impressive style this summer.
Turkey should nonetheless find themselves with a fair amount to prove after failing to set the international scene alight in recent years – and with such an eclectic mix of admittedly talented players on board for Terim’s side this summer – relevant betting tips could easily see Turkey cause an upset or two among the latter stages of the upcoming competition.
