Russia vs Wales Betting Tips and Predictions – Euro 2016
Russia vs Wales betting tips and predictions for the final Group B Euro 2016 match for both these sides, our betting preview includes three tips.
The final group games get underway and both sides still have plenty to play for. With many 3rd place sides qualifying, the opportunities to progress are increased. Toulouse is the venue as Russia face Wales.
Russia vs Wales Predictions
Chris Coleman said the last gasp winner from Daniel Sturridge was one of the lowest moments of his managerial career. The Three Lions leaped above their opponents in the Group B table and leaves the group wide open going into the final match.
It would be a significant achievement if Wales were to qualify for the knock-out stages and they got off to the best possible start with a victory over Slovakia. Coleman’s men possess one of the best players in the world in Gareth Bale and he’s notched two goals for his side so far.
They dropped very deep during the second half and let England attack but unfortunately they were unable to hold on beyond 91 minutes. They defend as a team and chase down the opposition in numbers and that should stand them in good stead against a disappointing Russian side. They will need to pick themselves up and go again though and not let the disappointment of Thursday linger.
Three points would move them onto seven points and would definitely send them through. Whether they finish 1st or 2nd is determined by England’s result against Slovakia which kicks off at the same time. Joe Ledley lasted around 65 minutes of the game against England, but he is still recovering from his recent broken leg and may be rested in preparation for the next stage. Aaron Ramsey faded as the game went on whilst Johnny Williams hassled and harried, but found it difficult to get into the game after coming on as a substitute. Based on their opening two performances, Wales should have too much for Russia, but they need to move on from the loss in Lens and concentrate on this match.
Russia have been disappointing thus far, but little was expected when they arrived in France. Leonid Slutski was rocking in the dugout as his side found themselves 2-0 down to Slovakia inside 45 minutes. Slovakia were excellent, they displayed pace and verve and the Russian defence struggled to cope with the lively forward line. Ignashevic and Berezutski have the combined age of 69 and aren’t as mobile as they once were. Wales will need to attack their opponents to find success, but if they sit back, it might play into the Russian’s hands.
They’ve scored two late goals in the tournament, displaying plenty of spirit, but they just come up short when it comes to quality. Injuries have disrupted their tournament with Dzagoev and Denisov have both been missed and they’ve been light in midfield.
They were considered lucky to have snatched a point against England and that still gives them hope of finishing 3rd in the group. Only a win will do here though. If they fail to collect the maximum return, they will exit Euro 2016 in the group stages and have to watch the rest of the tournament from the side-lines.
They largely look devoid of ideas and struggled to get the ball into Artem Dzyuba and Fedor Smolov, two players who can score goals. Smolov in particular had a brilliant end to the season in the Russian Premier League for Krasnodar, but has been unable to replicate it for the national team. The system played isn’t suiting him and it’s frustrating for the Russian fans. Dzyuba is an ariel threat, but does look a little clumsy with the ball at his feet. He scored plenty of goals domestically, but was supplied with significantly more service.
I think Wales can get the job done. The incentive to qualify will surely see them over the line. I think it will be a narrow victory, but they’ll see it through. The Correct Score Group Betting is a decent market with William Hill. My first Russia vs Wales betting tip is for Wales 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 in Correct Score Group Betting with William Hill. Gareth Bale still remains odds-against for a goal anytime. He started at a big price against England and although shortened, he is still worth a punt here. My second Russia vs Wales prediction is for Gareth Bale to score anytime. He is 17/10 with Bet Victor.
