Sweden vs Belgium predictions and betting tips for their Euro 2016 Group E game taking place on Wednesday 22nd June 2016, kick off time 8:00pm.
The final games of Group E take place tonight with both Sweden and Belgium capable of finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Makes for an exciting night in Nice at the Allianz Riviera and I’ve picked out the best three betting tips.
In a group with many permutations, Sweden really need to win here to stand a realistic chance of progressing to the next stage of the European Championships. A point could be enough for one of the four best third-placed sides, but that depends on Republic of Ireland’s result against Group leaders Italy and how the other Groups games work out. A point for both Sweden and Ireland would see Sweden take third place thanks to their superior goal difference after these two sides drew in their first Group match, but two points after three matches might not be enough to secure a best third-place qualifying spot. The three points is what Sweden will be after, but they’ll have to improve their performances after average displays against Ireland and in their 1-0 defeat to the Italians.
No Sweden player scored so far with their solitary goal coming in the form of an own goal from Ireland’s Ciaran Clark, and star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic in particular has been disappointing so far. He may be partnered once again by John Guidetti as they look for a change in fortunes and trouble Belgium’s injury-hit back line.
Belgium were many people’s outside bet to win this tournament, but they started with a woeful performance against Italy, going down 2-0. They made up for that with a convincing 3-0 victory over Ireland and a point will be enough to confirm second place. If they lose this though and Ireland beat Italy they’ll finish bottom of the group, so they’re not home and dry yet and they’ll have to be at their best to get past Sweden’s solid defence.
Axel Witsel made a goalscoring return to the starting line-up against Ireland and will keep his place. There are injury concerns over Mousa Dembele and Yannick Carrasco after they were withdrawn in the Ireland game but if they’re both fit they should both start this one too.
Sweden’s lack of prowess up front has been up for discussion so far in this tournament, but they need to put that right in this game or their remit of reaching the last 16 will fail. Although Belgium possess some excellent defenders they have looked shaky at times, particularly in the first game against Italy, and I think they could get a goal here. My first Sweden vs Belgium prediction is for both teams to score, the best odds are with 888sport who are offering 13/12.

Kevin De Bruyne returned to form against Ireland, adding yet another assist to his name. He’s been involved in ten goals in his last ten appearances for his country, scoring five and assisting five, and I think he will get himself a goal here too. Against Ireland, he wasn’t afraid to have a shot on goal and I’m backing him to hit the back of the net here. My second Sweden vs Belgium prediction is De Bruyne to score anytime, the best odds you’ll find at Betfair who have the bet at 11/5.
OFFER: Get 7/1 for Belgium to beat Sweden when you open a new Betfair account.
With both teams needing the win, it’s pretty tough to pick a winner but I think the extra quality Belgium have all over the pitch will be enough for Marc Wilmot’s men to secure second place and see them through the Group. It’s been a tough tournament to pick correct scores, but I think they’ll be goals in this and a Belgium win. My final Sweden vs Belgium betting tip is Belgium to win and over 2.5 goals in the match, the best odds are with Betfair of 21/10
