The 2019 Europa League final will be contested between two Premier League clubs for the first time ever, with Chelsea and Arsenal descending on Baku in Azerbaijan for the final on Wednesday 29th May.
There is plenty at stake for both of these clubs, especially Arsenal, who missed out on a Champions League place in the Premier League. There are suggestions that Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is in danger of being replaced if he fails to win the Europa League, which will be the first trophy of his managerial career. We’ll have all the best Europa League final predictions and betting tips for Chelsea vs Arsenal as well as build-up to the big match in Baku.
Arsenal manager Uani Emery is a bit of a specialist in this competition, having won it three years in a row with Sevilla between 2014 and 2016. His side have missed out on a Champions League spot via the Premier League top 4, but he’ll be hoping to follow the lead of Manchester United a few seasons ago, in getting a fifth place for an English side by winning the 2019 Europa League final.
Chelsea needed penalties to see off Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals, but they have been almost faultless in this competition all season, winning 10 of their 14 matches and drawing the other four. They have seen off some decent teams and will hope to beat Arsenal to lift the Europa League trophy for the second time.
Arsenal were excellent in seeing off Valencia in the semi-finals and their strike partnership of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette caused all kinds of problems for the La Liga outfit.
The sides won one game a-piece in the Premier League meetings this season and I’m predicting goals will be scored in the Europa League final in Baku. Arsenal had a few worrying moments earlier on in this competition but when we got down to the business end of things, they played their strongest 11 and won the matches. In what is sure to be a close game, the first of my Europa League final 2019 predictions is for Arsenal to lift the trophy.
What are the best odds for Arsenal to win the Europa League? 6/5 with 888Sport.
There is every chance this could be another exciting Europa League final. Five of the last seven finals have had three or more goals in them and this game could be no different. Earlier in the season Arsenal and Chelsea battled out a five goal thriller, with Chelsea just coming out on top thanks to goals from Pedro and Alvaro Morata, and then a winning striker with 10 minutes left from Marcus Alonso.
Arsenal’s two semi-final matches against Valencia finished 3-1 and 4-2, so they’re certainly not shy of attacking teams and that could be the same in Baku. Chelsea were slightly more reserved but have still been scoring goals this season. Their quarter final second leg with Slavia Prague ended 4-3 and have beaten Dynamo Kiev 5-0, PAOK 4-0 and Malmo 3-0. They also shared a four goal thriller with Vidi.
All this leads us onto the next Europa League final betting tip, and it’s from the over/under 2.5 goals market. All the stats point to a high scoring final in Baku and there are some good odds around for exactly that. If you think there will be four or more goals then go with the 13/5 with Unibet for over 3.5 goals, however were playing things a little safer for our Europa League final prediction and putting up over 2.5 goals as our NAP for the match.
What are the best odds for over 2.5 goals in the Europa League final between Chelsea and Arsenal? Evens with Unibet.

The last of the three betting tips we’re going for in the 2019 Europa League final is going to be a correct score bet. We’re already betting on goals to be scored in the match and that should provide an exciting spectacle for the viewers. These sides have both been strong in the competition so far, despite a few blips by Arsenal they pulled results out the bag when it mattered most. With this kind of determination and the expertise of Unai Emery in the Europa League, our earlier Europa League final prediction was the Arsenal to lift the trophy, however this could go all the way to extra-time and even penalties, just like Chelsea’s semi-final against Frankfurt.
Score Prediction – Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal.
We’re still a couple of weeks away from the final, but Chelsea are hoping that N’Golo Kane will be fit following a thigh injury. Sarri has said that the Frenchman needs a couple of weeks rest so barring any set-backs, he should be fit to take his place in midfield.
Antonio Rudiger will definitely miss the game after picking up a season ending injury in the match against Liverpool, and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s season is over after getting injured in the 2-2 draw with Burnley a few weeks ago. The England youngster was a regular in Sarri’s starting line-ups for the Europa League fixtures and scored four goals in the campaign.
The big decision Sarri will have to make is up-front – where Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud will be battling it out for a starting position up-front. It is well documented that Eden Hazard is likely to leave the club in the summer, so this is probably going to be his farewell appearance in a Chelsea shirt.
The Gunners have already said goodbye to Aaron Ramsey following his thigh injury so he won’t play for the club again as he joins Juventus this summer. Other injuries are Hector Bellerin (knee), Rob Holding (knee), Danny Welbeck (ankle) and Denis Suarez (groin) who will all miss the Europa League final.
It is perhaps fitting that Petr Cech is back and he could play one last game before retirement against his old club. Cech spent 11 years at Chelsea and made 333 appearances. He won 15 major honours at Stamford Bridge including four Premier League titles, a Champions League and a Europa League.
