Celtic vs Valencia Predictions and Betting Tips: Europa League Preview

Celtic vs Valencia betting tips

Celtic vs Valencia predictions and betting tips for this Thursday night Europa League fixture on February 14th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Celtic Park will host the first leg of this Europa League tie with Valencia arriving in Scotland in poor form. They are further hampered by the injury to Santi Mina, who hobbled off the weekend. The men from the Mestella are struggling for points and they won’t find it easy against Brendan Rodgers men. They have a decent-ish record at home and they come off the back of a resounding 5-0 win against St.Johnstone. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Scots take something into the second leg. See our Celtic vs Valencia predictions below.

Celtic vs Valencia Predictions

Valencia are missing a few players for this game and they will be forced to shuffle their pack for this Europa League tie. New signing Facundo Roncaglia is also suspended for the next four matches in the competition due to an altercation four years ago. Marcelino admitted his side were ‘tired’ and this is not an ideal fixture for them. They aren’t beaten often and they’ve been defeated on just four occasions this season but they’ve drawn 13 of their 23 matches in La Liga and anyone who backs them on a regular basis is unlikely to have turned a profit this season. They haven’t been in the Europa League since 2016 but they didn’t fare well in the Champions League this season, scoring just one goal in three away matches. Celtic have won five on the bounce and eight of their last nine in the Scottish Premiership and have hit form at the right time. It’s going to be really tough at the Mestalla next week and they are going to need to take something to Spain. They did only squeeze through to this stage of the competition but they have won four of their last five home games in the Europa League and I suspect they can stay unbeaten for 90 minutes here. Celtic of Draw Double Chance is the first of our Celtic vs Valencia predictions for Thursday night.

Celtic vs Valencia Under/Over Goals Predictions

There are many entertaining games taking place in the Europa League this week but this is unlikely to be one of them. 70% of Valencia’s games in La Liga this season featured fewer than three strikes whilst none of their three away matches in the Champions League contained more than a couple of goals. Celtic were far from prolific during their group stage and they could struggle to break down this Valencia defence for the majority of the game. Los Che are missing Santi Mina and their goal threat could be reduced by his absence. Don’t expect a ton of goals in this first leg and Under 2.5 Goals is the second of our Europa League betting tips for this evening.

Celtic vs Valencia Anytime Goalscorer Betting Tips

Celtic have a number of players who could cause problems for the Valencia defence and Scott Sinclair comes off the back of a terrific hat-trick at the weekend. He is likely to feature here for Brendan Rodger’s side and he could carry on where he left off. The 29-year old has netted in all competitions with goals in the Champions League Qualification rounds, the Scottish Cup and the Europa League this season and he’ll be keen to add to his tally of 16. He is a decent price to get on the scoresheet here and he is the third of our Celtic vs Valencia betting tips for Thursday.

Celtic vs Valencia Match Betting Preview

Despite being the away side, Valencia start as the favourites for this game and can be backed at 6/5. Celtic are the outsiders and the hosts are 23/10 to take a lead into the second leg. Valencia are draw-specialists and it’s 23/10 to end all-square in this one.

We’re not expecting too much goal-mouth action in this tie and it’s 4/5 for Under 2.5 Goals in this game at Celtic Park. The home side will need to play on the front foot and the fans will expect them to press hard. It’s Evens for Over 2.5 Goals in this game.

Kevin Gameiro has suddenly found form and he’s been scoring goals in recent outings. He’s 5/1 to net the opener. Rodrigo flits in and out of games but his work ethic often results in goalscoring opportunities and he’s 11/2 to break the deadlock. Dani Parejo is likely to stand over any set-piece and is 8/1 to grab the opener. For Celtic Odsonne Eduard is their best chance and is 5/1 to score the first.
