Fantasy Football Advice & Gameweek 36 Captains Pick

Just 3 gameweeks remain as the Fantasy Premier League season draws to a close anf there are decent fixtures for a few of the top teams this week.

Here’s our look at some potential weekend picks for Gameweek 36+ including the captains picks below. Manchester City and Chelsea have the best fixtures on paper this weekend but the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham also have relatively simple looking away trips.

 

Goalkeepers and Defenders Tips

Ederson (6.0m) may not be the most glamour Man City pick but he’s a reliable start with plenty of clean sheet points to offer. In a week where most will be focussing on City’s attack, Ederson could be a safe pick. It isn’t difficult to make a strong case when you consider five clean sheets in seven, no risk of rotation and Bournemouth, Watford, and Norwich left to play.

Chelsea have been unreliable for clean sheets all season but for anyone looking for a free hit option or one week punt, you could do worse than Reece James (4.9m). The Blues face already-relegated Norwich, who just shipped four to a struggling West Ham. James provides an attacking threat to go alongside his likely clean sheet should he keep his starting spot.

For anyone in desperate need of funds and a solid bench option, look no further than Neco Williams (4.0m). The Liverpool youngster has seen plenty of game time in recent weeks and secured nine points thanks to an early substitution last gameweek.

 

Midfielders Tips

Hat-trick hero Raheem Sterling (11.8m) makes our recommendations this week. The Manchester City winger has been heavily rotated (as has virtually everyone else in the side) but has now scored five and assisted three in his last four appearances. He won’t play 90 minutes every week but he will almost certainly score more points in the run-in.

Another Manchester City pick worth considering is the comparatively inexpensive, David Silva (7.3m). The departing City legend played just 26 minutes in the last gameweek after his 17-point-haul against Newcastle. He is sure to feature in what will be his final three Premier League games for the club and has the fixture to score big.

Willian’s (7.3m) consistent run of points may have come to an end last time out but an enticing fixture against Norwich makes him worthy of consideration yet again. The Canaries have been calamitous in defence and could well present Willian with a set-piece opportunity.

Michael Antonio’s (7.0m) four goals against Norwich was unexpected and unlikely to be repeated but he is still worth a look at. The out-of-position midfielder has a king set of closing fixtures and plenty of motivation as West Ham look to secure safety.

 

Forwards Tips

Yet another Manchester City player who shouldn’t be overlooked is Gabriel Jesus (9.7m). His game time has increased in Aguero’s absence and 22 points in two gameweeks highlight his potential.

Olivier Giroud (6.7m) started from the bench last time out but should return against a fragile Norwich. The Canaries have failed to deal with set-pieces and Giroud’s aerial presence could see him score well.

Dominic Solanke’s (5.1m) Premier League goal record is poor by all accounts. A brace against Leicester could be the turning point and with 0.3% ownership he would be an almighty differential. If you’re desperate for a left-field pick, he’s your man.

 

FPL Gameweek 36 Captains Pick

It’s all about Manchester City and Chelsea this week but how will the Manchester City starting line-up look with an FA Cup semi-final just three days later against Manchester United? Here’s our look at three of the best captaincy picks for Gameweek 36+.

 

Option 1 – Kevin De Bruyne (10.8m) vs Bournemouth

We begin with the current top FPL point scorer. Kevin De Bruyne failed to deliver attacking points after starting a league game for the first time since the restart. KDB came ever so close with a free-kick striking the post and a couple of potential assists being squandered by teammates.

De Bruyne has scored three and assisted three since the restart. Across the entire season, KDB has scored 11 and assisted 21. Guardiola’s penchant for rotation is a major question mark over De Bruyne’s head. He has been rested twice already since the restart and has failed to deliver in any of his three sub appearances this season.

Bournemouth have only conceded one in their last two but that should mean little to Man City. Three 5-0 wins since the restart, including against in-form Burnley suggests Bournemouth’s form isn’t all that relevant.

De Bruyne has started back-to-back games, meaning he could be in line for a rest. He was hauled off with 27 minutes to play which may offer some hope for owners but it is no doubt a risk.

 

Option 2 – Raheem Sterling (11.8m) vs Bournemouth

The second Manchester City option is just as prone to rotation as the last. Raheem Sterling has completed the full 90 in three out of seven games since the restart. In the other four he has played 78, 58, 29, and 0 minutes.

Game time aside, Sterling has hit the ground running since the Premier League’s return. The England international six goals and three assists from his five appearances so far. That takes his season’s tally to 17 goals and five assists.

Sterling scored a hat-trick against Brighton last time out and has found himself playing through the middle on occasion. An injury to Nathan Aké is a huge blow for the Cherries and makes Manchester City assets even more appealing.

 

Option 3 – Christian Pulisic (7.3m) vs Norwich

Our final pick for this week’s captaincy shortlist is Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic. The Blues had a torrid time against Bournemouth and recently lost to another struggling side in West Ham. Even still, a fixture against an already relegated Norwich is too good to resist.

The Canaries have been in woeful form and thanks to a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of West Ham, have officially been relegated. Norwich have the worst defence in the division and conceded three to Chelsea back in Gameweek 3. Pulisic registered his first attacking return of the season and has gone on to score eight and assist six since.

The American international has three goals and three assists since the restart, returning in six of his seven appearances. A hat-trick against Burnley earlier in the season shows his explosive captaincy potential.

It is difficult to ignore Man City assets but for the security of starts and an excellent fixture, Christian Pulisic is our pick for this week.
