Fantasy Football Gameweek 37+ Preview, Advice & Captains Tips

Fantasy Football tips

The final gameweek is just around the corner the Fantasy Premier League season draws to a close. Here’s our look at some potential picks for Gameweek 37+ including a captain pick.

It has been a very short break between Gameweeks since football returned and this weekend is no different, with less than a day between West Ham vs Watford ending GW 36+, and Norwich vs Burnley kicking-off GW37.

See our Fantasy Football advice and predictions below.

Goalkeepers and Defenders Tips

The current top point scorer among Goalkeepers in the FPL game is our first suggestion for the gameweek. Nick Pope (5.1m) faces Norwich and Brighton to end the season and looks a good bet to keep back-to-back clean sheets. Pope already has 14 shut outs this term and is in contention to win the Golde Glove.

Another claret defensive pick worth consideration is James Tarkowski (5.4m). Two attacking returns since the restart takes Tarkowski to two goals and three assists for the season. His attacking threat supplements a solid chance of clean sheets in the final two fixtures of the season.

Another defender who has been scoring attacking points recently is John Egan (4.6m). Egan opened his account for the season after the restart with goals in consecutive weeks and came close to scoring once again last gameweek. Sheffield United have been one of the best teams defensively and face two sides with nothing to play for in their last two.

Midfielders Tips

Stuart Armstrong (5.2m) may have gone under the radar for many but has been producing consistent returns since the restart. He has three attacking returns in his last four gameweeks and has scored all five Premier League goals in 2020. Selected by just 1% of FPL managers, he could be a good differential heading into fixures with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

Trézéguet (5.2m) grabbed a vital brace to give Aston Villa all three points against Crystal Palace in Gameweek 35+. Not always the most consistent option, Trézéguet is surely a gamble against Arsenal but could be the hero ina potentially crucial last game against West Ham.

Anthony Martial (8.4m) has 17 Premier League goals this season. The Frenchman has been leading the line for Manchester United and will surely be reclassified as a forward next year. In the meantime, he is a great out of position prospect with West Ham and Leicester to finish the season.

Forwards Tips

Raul Jiménez (8.1m) has scored in back-to-back gameweeks to take him to 17 league goals for the season. The Mexican has penalty duties in his locker and plays a Crystal Palace side who are currently on a six-game losing streak. Chelsea on the final day could also reap rewards given the BBlues’ defensive woes this season.

Alexandre Lacazette (9.2m) is certainly a gamble given his rather heft price tag but the Frenchman has undeniable quality. His recent run of games have yielded three goals and an assist in four appearances. Confidence is clearly high right now, as was demonstrated with his rocket in the North London Derby. Aston Villa and Watford are great fixtures on paper although both sides are fighting tooth and nail to remain in the Premier League.

FPL CAPTAINS TIPS

Manchester United are our main focus this week with a good fixture on paper against West Ham. Manchester City also provide some interesting (albeit risky) options.

Option 1 – Bruno Fernandes (9.1m) vs West Ham

Bruno Fernandes delivered once again in Gameweek 36+ with another assist. The Portuguese international has amassed seven league goals and eight assists in his short time in Manchester. Fernandes has shown remarkable consistency, failing to deliver attacking returns in just two of his 12 appearances.

Manchester United are up against struggling West Ham next. The Hammers are had conceded in each of their last 14 league games before facing bottom side Norwich. The last time West Ham faced Manchester United, the Hammers pulled off a surprise 2-0 victory.

Manchester United have been winning plenty of penalties since the restart and Bruno Fernandes has shown that he is high up the pecking order when it comes to spot-kick duties. His consistent returns make him a strong option for this week’s captaincy.

Option 2 – Anthony Martial (8.4m) vs West Ham

Another Manchester United option worth considering is Martial. The FPL ‘midfielder’ has been playing as Manchester United’s main striker for some time and is now up to 17 league goals for the season. Martial has a further seven assists and is the fourth-highest scoring midfielder in the game.

The Frenchman has shown great form, with six goals in six games, including a hat-trick against Sheffield United. During that period, he has picked up a further four assists to lift Manchester United into Champions League contention.

The Red Devils still have it all to play for and cannot afford to take their foot off the gas against West Ham. Given their leaky defence, this could be a great fixture for Martial owners.

Option 3 – Kevin De Bruyne (10.7m) vs Watford

Finally, we end on our Manchester City option of choice. Anyone of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, David Silva, Riyad Mahrez, or even Phil Foden could conceivably be the ‘right’ option for the Cityzens but we’re going with the reliable (when he plays) Kevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne has scored 11 and assisted 21 across the season and has only failed to produce attacking returns from one start since the restart. The trouble with him, and all the other Manchester City options mentioned, is that there is no guarantee of how much he will play. City face Arsenal in the FA Cup after the deadline so FPL managers have even fewer clues as to who will play or even be available.

Nonetheless, having played just 63 minutes in Gameweek 35+ and sat out completely in Gameweek 36+, we expect De Bruyne to be fresh enough to at least feature in Gameweek 37+ against a struggling Watford.

Recommended Captain for Gameweek 37+

Man of the moment, Bruno Fernandes, gets the nod for captaincy this week thanks to his consistent form and set-piece duties.
